Hey Friends and Followers…

I'm going to be picking up my permanent dentures next weekend after having this temporary set for the past seven months.

Someone asked me recently if I was glad that I finally went for the dentures after putting it off (out of fears) and my answer is a resounding "YES."

It may have been easier to just have one tooth pulled at a time until I looked like I was auditioning for a guest spot on the "Honey Boo Boo" show but why? Eventually they would have all needed to be tended to anyway… so I did it!

I have found that there are still some things that I can't eat (ie nuts) but it was important to add new things to my menu as my gums healed. I'm thinking that maybe that will not be the case when I get the permanent teeth.

Anyone have experiences or tips with dentures they'd like to share?

I did have an experience of having to call our work's call off line one morning and after starting to speak, realized that I had forgotten to put my teeth in. I must have sounded drunk. I should have just said, "I can't make it in because the sobriety tool on my car won't start." :)

My mother and I worked at the same hospital – different departments, different shifts. One early morning I got what I thought was a prank phone call – one of my buddies drunk dialing me after a night out. I hung up. Phone rang again. It was my mother’s boss. Apparently she made it to work without her teeth and wanted me to stop by the house and bring them to her.

7 months? It has been that long? Wow, it seems that time has been fleeting. I still have mine, so I cannot advise except to keep them in a glass to gross out the visiting young ones. I hope you can get the permanent ones to fit well enough to eat what you love.

And if you ever do decide to audition for "Honey Boo-Boo" you will have to tell me, because that is not on my "TeeVo" list of things to watch. LOL (however sad it is that I even know what that show is, scares me!) Though you might fit in with the "Call of the Wildman". How do you look in a hat? LOL

I'm glad it is coming to an end though for you. Are you going to show us your new pearly whites?

No advice, just these words, I know how you feel about the gum pain "Ouch" …!
I couldn't wait until my gums healed, boy was it ever so painful!

I am considering having what is left of my teeth pulled and to get dentures. However, I had 1 tooth pulled about a month ago and my mouth still has not healed. The hole opens and closes frequently.
