Has anyone found a good coping method for when you're ill, particularly with a stomach bug or discomfort? I take Metformin, which is hard on the stomach to begin with. Well, when I'm out of sorts, I don't feel like taking it at all, because it only seems to add to the discomfort. So I end up with a pounding headache and nausea, because my sugar is high; I don't feel like eating, and won't take the Metformin on an empty stomach. Feels like such a bad catch 22, anyone find a work around?

I spoke to my Dr. about the effects Metformin has on me, but I'm only 43 and he doesn't want to put me on insulin. My A1C is only 6.1-6.3 most times, but it's the spikes when I'm sick that put me over the top. I'll mention the discomfort again, and hope we can work something out. The medication is only supposed to be temporary until I quit working (I sit in front of a computer most days). Thanks, Harlen.
