There was an article about this in a diabetic mag. This month. The drs. feeling was that if you have a good pair of shoes that fit well you don't need special shoes. If you have diabetic neuropathy or a problem with your feet you might need them. Just make sure the shoes are long enough, deep enough and wide enough and that they have good support. I really had to look around for shoes because I have short, wide feet. ( my friend says my toes are so short and that's the reason I fall (lol)
