hey guys!!!
As i was testing my blood tonight i felt that my number was a bit off so i washed my hands and tested again. To my surprise my number jumped from 198 to 144 so i tested it a third time and it was 171 and i used all different fingers. Is it normal that my numbers fluctuate a bit like that? it worries me a little that i cant trust my meter.

I've had the same results. It may not be just the meter though. You're taking a one drop sampling of an average of 10 pints of blood. I'm no doctor, but it seems to me that the blood itself may have inconsistent levels as it travels through the circulatory system.

I have noticed the same thing. Washed hands with water only tested in right hand and got 144 so immediately tested in left hand and got 103. Go figure.

Take look at the following article which may shed some light on this ~ http://forecast.diabetes.org/magazine/feature...

Good link, but I also believe that a meter is simply a tool to be used as a general guide along with other guidelines. A 20% margin of error can be a big difference in numbers, but that in itself does not necessarily mean something is seriously wrong. Your a1c, lab bg, how you feel in general, and consistency of all these are good clues!
