I'm newly diagnosed with type II, A1C 6.5. Found a bread that I think will be ok for me. It's not bad, especially if toasted. It's called Healthy Life Bread. Each slice is 5 net carbs (total carbs = 8g - 3 g fiber), 1 g sugar, 35 calories, 100% whole wheat, 80 mg sodium, 0 total fat, 2 g protein. I think that sounds ok for me…don't know if it would be appropriate for others. No HFCS btw, but does contain soy (last ingredient listed). I found it at a regular grocery store in the bread aisle. Don't remember exact price, but around $2. Hope this is helpful. Having one piece of toast with my egg beaters really does make a nice breakfast for me, along with fresh pineapple, etc. What do you think?

I am living in WI at the moment and I just happened to purchase a loaf for my girfriend about a month ago thinking it would be better for her than what she had been eating. Only the printing on the wrapper is a bit different. So perhaps what you have found may be a bit of improvement over what I found. Here is the nutritional info of the bread you have found Irish ~

The bread I have found is 40 cal/slice with 6 carbs/slice. It also does not contain soy but it contains flaxseed which gives it omega 3, ALA.

Sue didn't care for it at first but now she seems to have started enjoying it. I myself try to avoid breads as much as possible, but I have tried a slice and it is quite good. We're just about out of this loaf so when we go to our usual grocery I'll have to check out the newer style bread.

here is a listing of other breads produced by Lewis bakeries ~
