In my family, my dad was a brittle diabetic, and he had extremely high triglycerides. He had several heart attacks in his lifetime..he's now deceased. I also am a brittle diabetic, and have had 1 light heart attack when I was 35 years old. I also have very very very high triglycerides. What is even more interesting is that in both of us , our diabetes barely showed up in the A1c, but our diabetes showed up atrociously in other diabetic tests. It is a constant struggle for me to discuss A1c with anybody, as, I can't really relate to an accurate A1c hardly at all. Heart disease can be by itself in other individuals, as in, not all people with heart disease are diabetic. ANNE
