Hi all, diabetes is new to me. I'm on day 5 of insulin. My dr just upped my insulin yesterday because I have been remaining high. I am 5'7 and 125lbs. This has been my normal weight for years. I have put on 4lbs this week and they said it was normal because of the water weight coming back. I have always been healthy. I work out 4x a week and eat very healthy. I am getting married in march and I am nervous I will keep gaining weight. Does anyone have any information, diet plans or any stories of how you lost weight with type 1? Thanks so much!

Welcome Katie! Hello!

Be proactive to learn all you can about being a T1 diabetic and encourage your fiance' to share in living life with diabetes, dietary needs, sleep habits, emotions, exercise regimen, medications side effect, contraindication, foot/skin care support system, blood pressure and blood sugar. Keep a daily record to discuss with Dr. or team upon visits and call them if you need to for any emergent changes.

Be mindful to keep weight balanced even thou you may gain a few more pounds before marriage and after marriage!

Keep in touch with DC and check out various wealth of information of interest that can help you greatly in living with diabetes on Insulin. I too take insulin every day twice a day and it is continuous daily adjustment that includes you, fiance and your medical team.

Balance is the key that you can consider!

Congratulations on the wedding for it is a real exciting time for the both of you! I remember getting married and oh what am happy occasion!
