I have "discovered" some low-carb products and snack ideas that I have been really enjoying that have had no or minimal impact on my BS, so I thought I would share :)
1) Wasa Crisp'n Light 7 grain crackerbread - 3 slices has 60 calories, 11 g. net carbs, 0 fat, 2 g. protein. I LOVE it with whipped cream cheese and smoked salmon, tuna, shrimp salad - YUM!
2) Quaker lightly salted rice cakes - 1 has 35 calories, 7 g. carbs, 0 fat, 1 g. protein - love it with everything above and also olive loaf (yeah, I know, but I do love Olive loaf!)
The above are as close to bread/rice as I get, seriously, and I don't eat pasta or potatoes of any kind, so I really find the rice cakes and light wasa to satisfy anything resembling a craving for a cracker.
Someone suggested I try pork rinds, and I am really enjoying them as well. I have also been making deviled eggs but eating them in moderation (but I love them), and I have found that egg beaters for breakfast with a few slices of turkey bacon really satisfies me and keeps me going until lunch - the only thing is, I need to either put salsa or guacomole on the eggbeaters (after they are cooked) because they tend to be bland - but the salsa and guac really make them delicious :)
Morningstar Farms Black Bean burgers have become a dinner staple for me - I don't have the nutritional info with me right now, but they are fabulous - 2 burgers for dinner, and I top them with salsa or guac - again, very low in net carbs, high in fiber and protein, and does virtually nothing to my BS.
I just tried Julian Bakery's 0 Carb bread - I had high hopes for it - but found it really horrible. And give the price and the shipping, I won't be going anywhere near it again…
Would love to hear about what you are all enjoying and if you have any products that you love and have helped you in successfully managing your BS.
Have a great day! :)
