Has anyone heard of a cinammon pill? A friend of mine went to a conference and brought me back a bottle of them. They claim on the bottle that they are great for getting your BS under control. I was just wondering if anyone has tried them or heard anything about them. This is the first I have heard about them. Thanks and have a great day.

I take cinnamon capsules every day. I had read that when adding it to your diet with diabetes it CAN help lower and regulate BGL's. I have seen it work in some people and not in others so it depends I guess. As this is not a medicine that is prescribed it has no regulations.

Nature Made has a 500mg option where you take 2 a day ( 1000mg's is what is supposed to work) You can get them at your local Walmart or other store of choice that sells vitamins. I find that WM has them for less.

all the best,

I tried this for four months and I have the same experience that jaybee52 had. When the two bottles I bought ran out I didn't renew and saved the money for other things.

Just finished reading Sugar Nation by Jeff O'Connell. He says that the store brand cinnamon is just as good as the expensive pills bought at your health food store. I put it on everything I can think of, oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Not sure if it helps but it can't hurt!

I'd have to disagree with Mr. O'Connell. I know there is a huge difference in cinnamons, even though I've never seen any lowering effects myself having bought the high priced ones. Unless the pill label specifically states Cassia Cinnamon (which is used for medicinal purposes) you could be getting just about anything. For cooking, there is a huge flavor and potency difference between Korintje, Ceylon, or Chinese Tung Hing, that if you bought them from a reputable spice house, you'd never buy the crap from the grocery store shelf again. Same is true for the pills. You could be getting a mix of whatever didn't sell at the spice market, or an inferior quality that wasn't even food grade. Same is true of many fish oils.

I have been having a harder time keeping my bs under control recently. I just started on a formula called Blood Sugar Defense by KAL. It contains cinnamon, chromium, ALA, bitter melon and several other natural ingredients (too many to list here). This is only my 2nd day, so I have no idea yet whether this will actually help. I will let you know if I have good results. Of course nothing takes the place of a good, balanced diet plan. Also, if I do see results, won't know if it is due to the cinnamon or any of the other ingredients!

yes I have tried them. The ones I have tried were capsules containing cinnamon and chromuim. They diidn't seem to do anything for my Blood Glucose (BG) levels.
