I recently found out that I am a type 2 diabetic. The doctor thinks I may have had it for a long time and it has gone undiagnosed. He did a urine test and found that my urinary protein count is over 100. He has made me an appointment with a nephrologist. I am having trouble finding sites that might help me understand how bad the protein level may be…any suggestions?

When do you see your nephrologist? Did your MD talk to you about what the protein in urine means, or is letting the nephrologist do that. Go google protein in urine. That will help for a start. But until you know what you are dealing with, I do not want to steer you the wrong way. I think once he tells you whats going on with you I may be able to answer a lot of your questions..Keep us posted…Debe

She is right, newcomers and everyone, the more input the better this site can be about useful subjects where we learn about our illness, and try to help others, And, yes, we do have friends that like to say hello; if you wish to you can do that, too. Join in.

Ok, Lets get all these discussions humming. It is so nice to see how everyone has learned different ways they might not know of the improve Diabetes.
Learning is top priority for me and I might see something that amazes me and I often wonder why the MD never suggested to me. I bring alot of info I learn here to my support group…Debe

What a great way to start meeting new friends; friends that are truly hear to share and help one another. Maybe now, we can once again get down to business, because lately it seems like discussions have no longer been about the disease, and we need to re-affirm our friends and get more done on the sites that have input from them. I am so tired of going back 3 months at least to find real meaningful discussions, so let us try to move forward. I started feeling really depressed today, and that was a big reason why, so thanks to this post, I finally feel a little better. Thanks For That. :->0 Claudia

I have been here awhile and everyday I find something new to ask the doctor about. I got the red wine, vinegar and grinder cinnamon ideas all from this site. I ask the doctor and he said it was all good. So everyone do not be shy, we usually do not bite. LOL But we need everyones input. We are all in this together and everyone needs advice and help now and then. Do not be afraid to ask, someone will have the answer you are lookig for. There are alot of knowledgable people on here and most of us are just dealing with this disease the best they we can.

I have read about the red wine and the cinnamon, but may I ask what the "vinegar" idea is? Lisa

I take 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before breakfast and before dinner. I mix with a little water too. Some on here take the vinegar pills. I may try them next when my vinegar runs out. It seems to have helped with my numbers.

I do the apple cider vinegar, I take 1 tablespoon mixed with water before breakfast and before dinner. I also drink the red wine too. Both have helped tremendously with my b/s levels.

I agree completely. This site is a good place to dicuss your medical problems, find answers, get help, advice, or referrals from others who might have the same problems as you. I just joined recently, and this site has been an enormous help to me.
