I have been off and on with gastric surgery for 4 to 5 years now. The last 2 were just too much going on with my parents to do it…but now I need to take care of me to live longer.

I had been on Metformin for 11 years and it has started to affect my liver and kidneys. The Doctors just keep adding medications for "protection". Finally I said no more meds and went to see two different endocrinologists who both recommended Metabolic ( Gastric Sleeve) surgery. They showed me studies and statistics that were amazing. I am 5'2" and weighed 190 lbs. I have yo yo dieted all my life and have bad habits but I try to eat healthy. The nutritionist and behavior counseling are a must but this tool ( Gastric Sleeve) is the best decision I have ever made. I am off all medications and feeling so much healthier. Yes I have to eat different, but I couldn't have done it without the surgery . I tried many times. If you can lose weight, exercise and eat healthy good for you, but if you struggle as I did for years ( I am 54) then Metabolic Surgery ( Gastric Sleeve) may be the best decision of your life. I had my surgery 9/21/15 and my sugars are in control with no meds. I am not hungry all the time, I eat healthy but very little. I exercise , I have energy and I am losing weight. Best decision of my life!

I am getting close to my surgery and I am having the sleeve done. I should have it in March if everything goes right. I have 20 more lbs to lose to have the total 50 off, but 14 to see the nutritionist and schedule the surgery. My problem is the I have to go in a week before the surgery and have a filter put in before my heart because i have had problems with blood clots. I am excited about having the surgery done, I am not nervous about it, maybe its because i have several surgeries and I know this one is not as bad as the others I have had. I wish you luck on your surgery. Keep us updated.
