It is tempting to say "screw it" and live your life ignoring your diabetes. And yes, we all will die one day; however, the way one dies with untreated diabetes is bit by bit. You lose you ability to see, you suffer with terrible pain from neuropathy, you lose toes, feet, and legs to amputation due to lack of circulation, you will be at the mercy of others for your care, and this goes on for many years of misery. So, my friend, choose the quality of life you want. Choose what I described or choose health in the face of this disease. If choosing to have an apple rather than a cupcake for a snack, and if walking for an hour instead of sitting on the couch, and if taking medication instead of avoiding the thought, then I will choose those things. For I will not say "screw it" and give up to a disease that I can manage with some very simple things: healthy choices, dedication to myself and the knowledge that I CAN make a difference. By saying "screw it" you end up "screwing yourself.". Hang tough, use the support you have here and fight, my friend, fight. Hugs! Sherrie

This is a wonderful reminder of how we need to look at things. Thank you so much for sharing this. I know I am coming out of a dark period of "screw it" and this is a great reminder to keep me going. Thank you.
