Right now, I am enjoying baby carrots (raw and in relative moderation ;)), mini dill pickles, mixed nuts, fruit (favs are berries, nectarines, plums, grapes, red grapefruit in water (no sugar added), slices of roast beef, peanut butter on a whole grain rice cake.

I would love to hear what others enjoy in the hopes of broadening my spectrum of good, low carb snacks so that I can avoid boredom! :)

Flavored Greek Yogurt. Its mild and has a great protein to carb ratio thats almost equal one to the other. Exp 13 carbs / 12 grams protein

I find the plain too tart but the flavored is perfect

Are these bad?? I was just going to try them - are they high in calories or fat or something? Someone else mentioned them too as being a really low carb snack…

Lizardfan 2012-08-17 13:37:01 -0500 Report

Just bad for me cause I love them so I want to eat way too many! They fit in my plan really well and I don't have them that often. Check the label, you may want to include them in your plan.

Love jerky, turkey ham, pork rinds with a little salsa (treats for me), low fat string cheese, jicama with sea salt, apple slices with peanut butter, veggie chips or straws (10 carb grams per serving :-)

Thanks Set apart - what is jicama? I have not had that before…:)

Jicama (prounounced HIH-ka-ma) (sometimes called "yam bean") is a root vegetable which is not at all starchy. The texture is somewhere between an apple and a raw potato. It has a mild, refreshing flavor. It is usually eaten raw, but can also be used in cooked dishes. I saw where it is also called the Mexican potato or Chinese turnip. The name is also used for arrow root or lo bok

4 oz. (ΒΌ lb.) jicama: 4 grams effective (net) carbohydrate plus 6 grams fiber and 42 calories

Peanut butter on a stalk of celery, also walnuts, or cashews.

Thanks Jigsaw - I do love nuts, but I tend to dislike celery because of the stringy things - I wish someone would figure out how to grow stringless celery! lol !

I am the same way with the celery. In fact I peel the celery and get the strings off of it before I put it in the bags for the fridge. OOO I love pork rinds, and no carbs!!

Hey there mystik - I'm probably the only person on the planet who has never had a pork rind! But I am certainly willing to try them - especially if they are crunchy - I'm a crunchy girl lol!

Baby carrots, celery, string cheese, black berries, cantaloupe, strawberries, dill pickles, french style green beans, olives, natural Greek Gods pomegranate yogurt (probably the highest carb count here), thinly sliced roast beef, chicken, water with lemon juice, cucumbers thinly sliced and marinaded in a mild champagne vinegar, grapes, peaches, apples, pineapple (fruit in moderate amounts), avocados, kale cooked with real bacon bits, spinach salad, to name a few.
