So I have been feeling a bit off for a few weeks and curious if my situation is justifiable or I'm over reacting. A couple wks ago I was actually curious about my daughters bg levels, she pees a lot and has uti's quite often, and she is always thirsty. So I went to cvs bought a meter I checked her it was 105, deceided to check my hubby 106, then myself I was fasting it was 125. I was shocked normally its like around 87-95. Well today I got up started making mini cupcakes for her bday ate one for quality control of course, delicious then hr later started feeling off, went to tell my hubby and he hugged me and I almost fainted. Went to lay down and check my bg it was 175!!! The mini cupcake was the size of a walnut and with no icing!! The rest of the day its been hovering around 113-127. I just want some input on this situation and if it could be pre or just a fluke…

Howdy Tuffer, WELCOME to Diabetic Connect!

First of all I commend you for being proactive and just having a glucose meter and testing yourself and your loved ones (I hope you used a fresh lancet between each person you tested — don't want to spread any blood-born infections).

I am not a medical Dr, so I am not qualified to diagnose (so check it out with your Dr), but it sounds like you may be in a "pre diabetes" state. A normal, non diabetes person usually ranges in the 80s. the ranges you "hover" around suggest pre diabetes.

See your Dr and get a diagnosis.

Blessings to you and yours!

James Baker
