I had a happy day. I'm alive another day. Went to pain doc and got shots in my back so I'm no longer in pain.

I don't know what a bad day is. I shouldn't be here after receiving large amounts of chemo including two bone morrow transplants. Every day is a free day. If I don't feel well, I make myself feel well. I got that trate from my mother. I have found that worrying is counter productive and bad for your health. I still care about things but I don't let it eat me up. It's gloomy outside today but it's days like this that make nice days nicer. Or good days gooder?

I love your outlook and attitude! Hooray for you and all of those who are fortunate enough to be around you and influenced by your positive outlook! We really do in large part make our own happiness, don't we? Some people just don't realize that. God bless you for sharing your testimony.

I love your screen name, by the way! A good sense of humor is one of the best meds around!

I have many happy remembrances, but my favorite is when I saw my son walk for the first time, five years after the doctors told me he would never learn to walk. He now beats my ass on the treadmill! LOL

My happy days are the ones I get to talk to one of my family. The most happy days are when I get to see them ( does not happen very often ) Cara

For me it was my wedding day, the day I graduated with my master's degree, and the three days when each of my children were born -- although I had a C-section each time so that is tough on a body!

So glad to see that you changed the wording of your initial discussion. I had hoped that was what you meant. Those 2 days were special, I know, but just knew there had to have been more than just those 2.

Every day that I am able to wake up to is a happy day for me. It's better than not waking up at all.

Amen! My ex used to say that any day "above ground" was a good day for him (LOL). There are different types and levels of happiness, too. Everyday can't be one of those "Hallelujah!" days. We all have those days (i.e. birth of child) that are extremely special, but other days are happy but less spectacular. Embrace them all!

I really do not believe that you've not had but 2 happy days in your life. I know nothing of your life, of course, but I think you could come up with more happy days if you really stopped and thought about it.

I know our lives really become tough at times, and it often seems things will never improve. We become overwhelmed with the things we're confronting. But life is such a beautiful gift. Each day is full of new opportunities.

So much of life and being happy is in the ability to recognize the blessings in our lives, even when things are not going well. As some have already pointed out, there is so much happiness in just the simplest of things, such as a flower or a bird or a smile. Don't take for granted the roof over your head or the fact that you don't go hungry every day.

Surely unpleasant and traumatic things come along in each of our lives, but how we deal with them and how we rebound is what counts. The hard times teach us lessons and make us better. They help us to better appreciate the good times! Those experiences help us to be more empathetic and caring toward others with similar problems.

Keeping a journal and writing down 5 (or more) things for which you are thankful each day helps you to begin to look at things in a more positive way. Taking an interest in the needs of others and supporting them helps to put your own life in perspective too. Things can always be worse.

Dealing with difficulties - especially poor health - can make us overlook the blessings sometimes. Don't let that happen. God wants you to be happy and joyful! I'm praying for you!

Great idea about using a journal. It helps me organize my thoughts from the negitive to the positive.

Hi! My happiest days are so many. But the happiest was the day I fell in Love with the man of my dreams. Then when we got married. Then when my son and daughter were born. Then when each of my grand children were born. I'm happy and thankful to my Heavenly Father when I wake up to another wonderful day. I love the rain and wind, birds, animals, sunsets, the sound and smell of the ocean. Then the day I got my power wheelchair. Then when I found more happiness when in my wheelchair I learned to ballroom dance with my husband. Square dance with my friends, take my grandchildren to the park. I hope you will have many more happy days

Your Friend

Misery, how sad that you only had happiness when your son was born, did you find no happiness in his childhood?

2008-11-29 03:46:01 -0600 Report

All you really have to do, is try not to dwell on the past, because if you do; you wake up feeling like you are still there with nothing but negative thoughts to start your day(I know this soooooo
well, did it for years, until I woke up one day in the present and found a whole new world,) If you go to bed with negative thoughts, you are going to wake up with them. Take time to smell the roses, listen to the birds sing, look at a rainbow after a mild spring rain. Gods' gift are one of many things to be happy about and they are all around you; Think about the warm cuddly blanket that wraps around you when you go to sleep and the soft comfortable pillow under your head, and how cozy you feel. Wake up to the day and feel refreshed, not depressed. Take in every moment of every day that you; and find the good in them. There are plenty of things to be happy about, or thankful for.

I have many happy days. You don't have to look hard to find happiness. If you see a flower, a bird, the rain, smell food, touch your child's face, etc. etc. Happines comes in many shapes and forms. I am happy every morning that I wake up and know that I was given another day to start over.

GabbyPA 2008-11-23 15:14:52 -0600 Report

I'm like Judy, too many to count. So besides the obvious ones like getting married and having kids. Some of the best days I have are when I am traveling. Near or far, no matter. Just being out with someone I care about and experiencing new things. I have had the opportunity to travel to several countries (geee, that's why I'm broke! LOL) Seriously, there is such a rush when you are in another country learning to get around, seeing the sites, and meeting great people. There are places I still want to go, but if I die tomorrow, I would have no regrets.

The other thing that makes me happy is spending time in nature. I love to photograph and write poetic prose about nature. She is never demanding and always willing to inspire. All I have to do is stop and listen for a while.

We should all try and find some happiness in our lives everyday. One is that I wake up for one more day. Another is that I made it through one more day. I have my hubby and daughter. My blood sugars are in so much better control, my pain is being managed to a certain degree. My puppy is growing everyday and is such a joy. See even the daily things in our lives can give us happiness. Misery, you wake up everyday, please try and find joy in that.

I have had alot of happy days in my life, and plan on having many more!!!! This week-end I will have some very happy days spending them with family, many of whom I don't get to see often, because they live far away. Misery, look for the joy in every day and you will find it!!!!

Was this a quote from the bible? "Misery, look for the joy in every day and you will find it!!!!", I didn't recognize it.

You know that horseback riding is the best form of therapy? My son, who has special needs can ride a horse better than I can.
I can see you riding and pealing the oranges. But I have a problem with the idea of combination of horse sweat and orange citrus! LOL

I have many happy days, too many to list here. One of my recent happy days was my son's wedding in October. He married the love of his life and I was so happy to be there and see it. She's the daughter I never had and I love her as if she were born to me. Another recent one was a phone call from my lifetime friend that lives in another state. We talked for 21/2 hours that night and giggled and laughed about the things we did as kids, that was a great day too.

I wish you all many happy days!!
