Ok I have got a confession to make. Today I was craving sugar, oooh bad me!!
I tried to no avail to get rid of the craving and it didn't work. So I was really, and I do mean REALLY naughty, and had 10 donut holes and I guess I had a bad influence on my hubby and he too ate 10(he is also T2). I got home an hour later and decided to see what kind of damage I had done. Lo and behold, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. BG was only 157, what a shock. Hubby's BG was only 102. Now I am totally confused, I ate wheat toast and bacon for breakfast, was in a hurry, and after an hour felt really sleepy so I checked BG and it was 249!!! Someone please help me understand why when I just ate toast it went nuts and when I ate donut holes with sugary sweet glaze and it was around normal for me!!

Sometimes I don't feel the effect till the next morning if I eat too many carbs or breads. My friends brought over GIANT whole wheat buns to grill for me with turkey. I didn't want to offend them knowing the buns were over 50 grams of carbs, did fine that night. Next morning my BG was way too high!

This is why we test and write things down. It could be the timing of your testing or that the donuts peaked really fast and were already on the way down when you tested. They are fried and maybe the oil held them at bay a bit. It is hard to figure things out. When I eat things that are questionable or things I want to learn, I test every 30 minutes after eating to see when it peaks and how high it gets.

Could be you actually needed the sugar at the time. Since there was no real nutritional value to them, they may have just gone right through you, as well as the suagr. Toast and bacon have protein and fiber. Your body likes that stuff, so it will pull it in, along with the sugars and carbs. Just my wild guess.

I totally understand. It is like that with me as well. I can eat something I think is good for me and my BS go crazy and then I eat something bad and I am ok. Go figure!! That's what makes me crazy as well. Have a wonderful day. :-)
