Hi Patti, I have been diagnosed for several years and I am also T2. I am on 500 mg of Met.

Weight loss is an individualized problem. I am on a 1200 caloric diet however, I eat about 1000 calories per day and it works for me. I also bake, broil or grill all of my meats including bacon and sausage. I fry an egg with Pam. I avoid processed foods as much as possible.

This is what I did when I was first diagnosed and told about my 1200 caloric diet. I went and bought a food scale and weighed everything. I bought a calorie counting book to coincide with a list I found online. I then created a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel that included the following columns Date, Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, Snack and a column for my readings for the day. This can be printed out and taken to the doctor and nutritionist.

Does your husband have a meal plan to follow? Does he exercise? Walking is good exercise. Has he seen a nutritionist and endocrinologist? Is he on other meds that can have an effect on weight? More importantly has he talked to his doctor about his weight loss problem? I wish him the best. Losing weight isn't the easiest task and it can be frustrating at times.
