I've been on the Minimed pump for about 4 months now. I love it!! My A1C has gone down from 10.9 to 7.9 so I'm excited to see improvement. My question is: what can I use to remove the adhesive that remains after the infusion or sensor site is removed? Today I bought Benadryl Spray to help with the itching but still would like to know what to use for the excess adhesive.

Thanks everyone and have a blessed day!!!

I use alcohol swabs. They help me a lot. Also, hydroperoxide may fizz it off. The stuff in the brown plastic bottle, not bleach! If it stings, that is not good. Then try watering it down a little.

Baby or mineral oil will help to remove the infusion tape. Before removing the tape, soak the site for a few minutes in the oil and it should come off fairly easily. I always try to do my changes after I shower so that the tape is wet and will come off easier. You can buy medical adhesive remover (usually from the company you get your pump supplies from).

I like to use skin-tack and it cleans off with a swab
Stops me from having a reaction to the glue.
One of the other things I use is lavender oil this take it off as well
Hope this helps

What kind of infusion set are you using…there are several options which may/may not have different adhesives. I use the Quick-set Paradigm and haven't had any problems but don't know if that's because I'm not as sensitive as you are to the adhesive. I would suggest contacting your Medtronic rep (800-646-4633) and explaining your problem and asking them for options…I'm sure they've dealt with this before and will hopefully be able to offer you solutions…they don't want to lose your business!

I use the Sof-Set for the pump and the IV3000 tape for the sensor. The pump site is the one where the adhesive doesn't remove completely.
