Hey dc! Has anyone had a vitrectomy or know of someone who has? I'm curious to know what the healing process is like that how beneficial the results were. Thanks!!

I've never needed one but there's a hemorrhage in my right eye that's taking awhile to clear. My retina has never detached and the pulling on it has subsided. I was just considering it to remove the blood in my eye. I've read a lot about them and most seem successful. The hardest part would be keeping my head in a face down position. That is nearly impossible for me since I work and have class. I'm going to see my dr tomorrow to ask some questions

I had one for a torn retina a couple of years ago. My retina successfully healed, but the gas bubble rubbed a cataract on the back of my lens so I had to have a lens replacement a few months later. Follow your doctors post-op instructions carefully.
