Hey!
It's 103 degrees here in NJ today!

I laughed at the weather forecasters yesterday when they forecasted the weather for today saying to myself, " Are they serious?"

YYes they are, it's Hot..Hot..Hot!
And I can't take it!

Mays when I was a medic we went to a restaurant for an unconscious employee. it was 103 outside and over 120 in the kitchen. The manager would not let one employee take breaks to cool off, have water or eat because he was mad with him. Turned out the kid was diabetic. He had heat stroke and was hypoglycemic. He was given insulin by the paramedic. We put a plastic sheet on the gurney with a sheet on top of it. We literally packed him in ice with two IV's going. We made the manager give us two buckets of ice to hold us till we got to the ER. Once we got to the ER, his temp was taken and he was burning up. the doctor ordered more ice. He told us to pack more ice on him and they brought in two industrial fans to help cool his core body temp down.

I went back to the restaurant the next week just for dinner with a friend. I asked about the kid and was told he pulled through and was doing great. The manager was fired. Turned out the kid was the owners son and the staff didn't know it. The owner said they have employee policies in place stating that when it was extremely hot the staff had to take 15 min breaks every hour and they could have all the water they needed to keep hydrated. I hope that manager never does that to anyone else.

You never know who is related to whom, and who knows who!
It's sad when some individuals can't see beyond human decency and human compassion when dealing with certain situations in life.

From that point on after that incident, the former manager has a lot to think about concerning his actions and the resulting consequences because of them.
This young man (the diabetic) could have lost his life, but instead the manager lost his job, and he has no one to blame but himself, if he even does.

"Karma" is strange (for those who believe in it) but justifiably true!

Hey Mays come down to Maryland it is cooler…temp is 101…lol. As much as I hate cold weather, I would love a day in the 40's just so I can cool off. People really have to stay hydrated even if they are in air conditioning all day. A/C takes the humidity out of the air but it also drys out the body.

I don't like the heat and thankfully it has been in the 70"s the last couple of days with rain forecasted this evening. If you don't have air conditioning, then it's time to set up the beach area in your tub, just put on the trunks, put something behind your head, grab something cool to drink and put on some music or take a book or both, but enjoy!!!

Thankfully the city as opened cooling stations but they close at 7pm so people without A/C are going back to hot homes. You can also sit a bowl of Ice in front of a fan and let the fan blow air over the ice. Much cooler.

Finally some relief in the form of rain!
The sound of thunder and the flash of lightning has never been more beautiful!
I just love it, cool off the day, and possibly the night!

We had over a week where our lowest temp was 104, highest 110!!
Thank goodness it has cooled off a little here for now(highs in the 90's)
The forecast is calling for us to be back into the 100's by the end of the week.
I am in central California.
