Ok, so I haven't ridden a bike in at least 40 years. And there was no way I ever would have thought to go and buy a bike. I mean once around the block and I would be done! But an electric, pedal assisted bike might be interesting. Pedal assisted means that it isn't full power, you still have to pedal but no hills and I should be able to get back from wherever I go :-)
Of course to be fair, I just got involved with an ebike distributor so I convinced them to give me one, I mean how am I supposed to sell it without riding it. And my alterior motive, KICK DIABETES!

I will let you know how I do.

Try the ebike route. Much easier to get started less likely to get deterred because of the difficulty till you get in shape. There are plenty of places to buy a cheap one even Walmart sells them. If you want one of our db0 electric folding bikes I can get it for you wholesale. Regards JR

So I began my ebike program Saturday. Wasn't as easy as I expected. Once around the block and walked up the big hill. But it was fun. Took a quick ride yesterday. Think I'll try again today.

Sounds like a good way to get moving as long as you do some of the peddeling so as to eventually get on a regular bike, otherwise it won't do squat for you:)

That's why I got the power assisted model as opposed to a throttle model which is more like a scooter. This just helps you peddle longer, farther and up hills. Supposedly you get the same if not more exersize this way. Doesn't really work without pedaling and you can always turn off the assist (if you want to).

Oh, I would need the assist due to back injury and leg issues. I can't believe after having been a bike rider everywhere I would need the help now. My hope is to be able to over come the health problems. Right now just to be able to stand for long periods of time would be good.

Hopefully one of these ebikes can get you back "touring" without too much stress and strain. Might work. Go take a test drive at your nearest ebike store. I have a list of stores if you want.

My brother in law is an avid bike rider and when we mentioned to him about the ebike, he said he knows a good place to check them out. He is a dr so I was asking him what he thought about me getting one with my conditions. He said he would meet us and see for himself if I can handle it.

I'm sorry for the delayed response but it is more complicated than that :-) Our bike, the Avadream db0 isn't in the stores yet so tough to test. although you can see it at the website http://www.avadream.com/home.php. I would recommend taking a look at some of the other bikes if you can find an ebike store.http://www.pedegoelectricbikes.com/ has an extensive list of dealer locations that can help. Happy to send you my list if you want to share your email with me so I can send you an excel spreadsheet. By the way if you want one of our "electric foldable bikes". Let me know and I can get it for you wholesale. Regards, JR

you could send her a list via the DC email if you are friends. I wouldn't send sensitive info on the discussion boards as Google scans these and the info will end up in Google search results.
