I really need some advice/suggestions on what to carry in my purse for those times I need/want a snack while at doctors appointments and such.
I used to carry p.b. crackers but after a while they get stale. I used to carry Glucerna mini bars but they melt after a while. I also need them to take before I take a pain pill. Taking pain pills on an empty stomach causes stomach pain.
Any help I can get here will be appreciated! I know DC will not let me down.

I carry jerky for those times when I get hungry and need protein. My husband makes it for me in the dehydrate! I also carry walnuts, and dry cranberries, in case I need carbs! In my lunch bag I carry apples, turkey sticks, low fat string cheese, a pb sandwich, etc.

One thing that I started carrying is a drink called Isopure. I had to use it after surgery for the protein content and still do. There are 20 oz per bottle, no aspartame & prreservative free, no carbs, fats. 160 cal. If I know I'm going to be low on protein ( which I am now a days) I carry this and drink it. There is also whey protein powders that you can mix with milk, fruit and yogurt etc and ice cubes and flavorings. Put ice cubes in it and it will come out just like a milk shake without all the extra and unwanted cal. and I am still full.

Are you talking about something to eat when you get low?
I just started carying "Combos" in a zip-lock bag.
They re 2.5 g carbs each, so somewhat concentrated, and easy to count.

I like your idea of combos, and I like them too! Good idea. I'm talking about not when I get too low bc I have my smarties and glucose tabliets for that.

I have pb crackers, apples, dried fruit like appricots, nuts, sugar free gum or sugar free hard or soft candies work to.

I found these little bottles that were made for holding maybe 2 or 3 oz’s of liquid. I find they hold a little over 1 serving of peanuts or sunflower seeds. I keep five each in the refrigerator and eat the sunflower seeds for a morning snack most days and eat the peanuts with my lunch.

Sometimes if the wife goes shopping or we go out for some reason and I figure I’m not going to be able to eat at my regular time, I find eating one of the bottles of peanuts or sunflower seeds helps stabilize my blood sugar until I can get something to eat. I sometimes take one of the Atkins low carb shakes with me if I have them. I only buy them when on sale so I don’t always have them, but there great when I do. I found they even taste ok warm. But some people don’t care for them even chilled.

I take anything I want for a snack as long as it doesn't have to be refrigerated.

That's what I'm looking for…something that doesn't have to be refrigerated…that I can carry in my purse.

DeanaG is right on with nuts, they are one of my favorites. The problem is using control because I can't stop eating them when they're in front of me. Also carrots, celery and a bit of fruit in a small thermal lunch bag to keep it fresh. Pork rinds are carbless if you like that kind of stuff. If I come up with some more, I'll let you know! Stay away from the pizza and ice cream!!! (-;

I use a small ziplock bag to carry some almonds or walnuts with me. Sometimes I also take a couple of cheese sticks with me.
