So I'm 27. When I was pregnant with my third child I noticed I was peeing a lot, like more then when your pregnant lol I was getting up like every half hour to go to bathroom. I was gulping OJ :O and my vision was getting blurry. I knew something had to be wrong I would eat a meal and 30 minutes later go to sleep because I was so tired. The doctor noticed protein in my urine early about 15 or 16 wks and requested I get the glucose test done early so I did. When I did the test I was soo nauseous the lady who took my blood must have thought my sugar was low and told me me to drink some oj and get something to eat when I left. I felt sooo sick after that I slept the whole day, I can only imagine what my sugar was :O. So my results came back 1 hr glucose was 409.my A1c was 9. Was sent to a endo. He told me he thought that I had probably developed diabetes in the last few years and to not expect it to go away. So during pregnancy I was on insulin after pregnancy they took me off, guess the nurses and doctors at hospital thought it might go away. At first it wasn't so bad I was still having some highs but they said it could still go away so I waited. It didn't go away and eventually kept getting harder and harder to control. I have no insurance and have been trying for the past 9 months since my son was born to get medicaid but have been repeatedly denied. I am at a point where the past 4 months I have ate no carbs and when I feel like I'm having a better day I only eat up to 2gcarb per meal. I eat only protein and fat and my fasting are still 130 to 160 and my after meal blood sugars are anywhere between 130 to 220 and this is with no carbs. So finally I was told about this place Shepherds Hope and they have been awesome, specially since I also have a pituitary tumor and I know my prolactin levels are high as well so at least I can get help for this as well. I have finally been able to see and endo I actually just saw her yesterday, she said she thinks I have 1.5 lada which I was thinking anyway. So she is doing the Anti-GAD test and C peptide and A1c. She put me on insulin. Novolog before meals 1 unit for every 15g and Levemir 6 units at bedtime. So the past 2 weeks I have been trying and then adjusting after 2 to 3 days of it not working. I was having low blood sugars at 5:30 in the morning so i've split my levemir 3u 8pm and 3u 8am. My breakfast ratio right now is 1:10 and I'm still going over 200. My lunch I just lowered today to 1:11 and have actually got my highest lunch number 192..dont know how this happened when I even changed the ratio. My dinner is 1:11 as well and is usually good 1 hour and sometimes good 2 hours but near 200 at bedtime. I'm seriously getting so upset and frustrated even with making adjustments every few days you would think I would have improvement and instead it seems to getting harder. I'm reading "think like a panceras" it has a lot of great info but i'm still feeling lost. I dont know what to do. Should I change my morning dose of basal Levemir? I've been checking during the night to see what is happening too and by 5am my blood sugar is 100 but then by 7am it goes up to 112 or so the past 2 days, so i'm thinking the nighttime levemir is ok for now? I don't know. But do you think I should up my levemir in morning to help with inbetween meals? Thanks so much for all the advice.

Your best bet is to call the endo with a day worth of readings so that SHE can adjust your insulin. You may need to adjust your insulin to carb ratio. My endo always perfers for me to call her with my readings so she can make adjustments rather then myself. Hope this helped:)

Back when I was on MDI of Lantus and Novolog, I started experiencing severe low morning BG's. My endo changed my one Lantus dose from evening to morning and that helped. (I was taking 14 units of Lantus.) She explained that immediately after injecting, the Lantus was a bit stronger than for the remaining 24 hours…I'm not certain whether that applies to Levemir but might be worth asking your endo.

I like the both diabetetes family, and also I like the herbs community www.tcmtreat.com, it is free to consult, My friends have buy their Gluconature for me, I have take 1months, though the blood sugar level not reduce, but now I feel better, you should select the right supplement according to your body condition

No I was told I need to figure out the carb to ratio and basal first and then to work on correction.

Ok. I was given a correction factor right from the start :)

well I have no idea how to do a correction… still trying to learn through places like here and books. Like I said I went to a volunteer place and until I go to that doctor clinic on the 24th i'm on my own :(. I'm trying my best though. Should I increase my morning levemir if in between meals is high? Because right now i've been taking 3u in the morning and 3u at night and during the day i'm high between meals. Like I ate lunch at 1pm and it's 5pm and my blood sugar is up to 172. I don't know what to do. And can't do a correction since I don't know what my dose would be so I'm just so lost. Any advice would be helpful thank you.

I eat lots of veggies now that I can my meals are basically all veggies one meat. Although at lunch today I did have half of a joesph pita but it was only 5g. I have been keeping each meal either under 15g or under 30g. Like this morning for my breakfast ratio 1:10 I had 10. At lunch for my 1:11 I had 22g.

You know veggies have carbs
One of the things I use every day is a book cald The calorie king
It has listings for all the food you eat
Best wishes

There is no way for me to call a doctor I am on my own basically. Like I said I went through a volunteer place because of no insurance. The only time I get to see a doctor is once a month when I go stand in a long line and wait hours lol which I do, but it's only once a month and I don't go there until the 24th of this month.

Sorry you are having such a hard time. I wouldn't change anything without calling the doctor. Are you eating a lot of non starch vegtables?
