what do you all think of these? I still eat some of both at times. I can't seem to find anything wrong in the ingredients on the packages, of course some of the ingredients, I don't know what they are, but I am well aware of high fructose corn syrup, and how bad that is, and of course, partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats) so far all the ones I have tried over the last 3 years or so, don't have these. they are all low carb, low fat high in fiber and protein, those are some of the criteria I used when selecting. I don't do the meal bars, just the snacks. any thoughts?

thanks for your responses. I don't buy Atkins frequently either, I too agree that they are expensive. South Beach can be too, depending on where you get it. I like to get them on sale and stock up. I can't wait to get a blender soon, so that I can make some homemade healthy protein shakes.

One of my favorite indulgences now and again is Atkins Endulge" Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar", which I think is their lowest carb product. One bar has 12 grams of carb and reminds me of the Payday candy bar. (But I know that Suzy Cohen would disapprove because of the sugar alcohols and sucrqalose and other ingredients that I haven't a clue about (e.g. acesulfame potassium and neotame and inulin…kinda wish I hadn't read the ingredients!) Some of the Atkins products are higher overall carb than I like. I don't espouse the "net carb" approach that they advertise but look at the total carbs

I like the Atkins Shakes. Find them very helpful if I can’t eat when I should. As far as the other snacks, I bought some on sale at Bjs. They taste great. Had mixed results with them. Found that sometimes I eat one and hardly any effect on my blood sugar. Then at other times they would spike me 40-50 points. I guess eating one every once in a while is ok. They’re expensive and for me I had mixed results so probley will only use the shakes mostly. I also found that drinking the Atkins Shakes first thing in the morning helps with stabilizing my blood sugar in the morning. I will eat a small snack of peanuts or sunflower seeds about an hour or so later and my blood sugar might go up maybe 10 points. With out the low carb protein shake it would spike a lot more than that. Never tried any of the South Beach stuff. Only buy Atkins when on sale. EAS also makes a low carb shake that I use. Again will buy when on sale.
