I wasn't sure about starting a new week. It's hot and people are on vacation. Life goes on and waits for no calories busting activities.:-). Then I saw some very supportive words from a DC member and BAM!! I am inspired for one more week. It's hot people, we're tired and sweating in places that only our doctors know about. Aching in places that we forgot we had. LOL. So let's sweat for a purpose. Let's swim, treadmill, arm lift, Tae Chai, Tae Bo, Zumba and just walking to the mailbox like never before. Let those BG numbers know we are not to be mess with regardless of the heat. With water in one hand and towel in the other, for 5 or 50 mins. Let's Do This!!!!!!

Haven't been keeping up on the checking in, but I have been walking. I missed the 4th because I had the day off work, but worked in my garden and washed the car instead. It was hot, and getting wet felt good! Otherwise around 12 miles/week.

Sorry I haven't been checking in. We were on vacation for the last 2 weeks.
I did a lot of walking around Nashville, Memphis, Graceland and about 10 different Civil War battlefields. We got to cross quite a few things off our bucket lists. ;-)
The heat and humidity was a bit much but wouldn't trade our time for anything.
Tomorrow is back to our regularly scheduled programming! ;-)

Our weather forecast is for 104 to 109 this coming week, looks like I will have to workout indoors and be careful about when to go swimming!! ;-)

1:10 Nautilus work out, 2miles on the recumbent bike. And last but certainly not least the heat wave has broken and we were able to start the limb-yard clean up from the two storms we had last week! Worked about a hour in the yard and a lot more to do tomorrow. Feels good to have started it, lots of wood to stack, wood chipper a lot of branches and it will take a long time for the small debris to be picked up. Happy to be able to do it tho!

Discussed with my trainer writing my diet down in a journal. I looked up a short lived journal from 6 months ago, and observed the absolute lack of change in my diet choices. Back to writing everything down I go.
Instead of warming up on the elliptical or recumbent bike, last 2 weeks I've warmed up on a rowing machine. Makes for a nice challenging change. Also yesterday I did 30 minutes of elliptical cardio.

I was told that doing something different on a regular basis, keeps your body on its toes so that it won't become comfortable and losing weight stops. But it is so much easier to just get out and walk then changing all the time, LOL. But I am trying to do better.

Worked out with my Master Trainer today. As usual my muscles are sore. And I need to do as he says, stretch, STRETCH, S T R E T C H! I need to put in more steps on the pedometer too. Maybe goal gradual increases. 1st day was 2500 steps, can't really average in 14 hour work day with 8335 steps. Goal next day 3000, day after 3500, etc to get to the regular recommendation of 10000 steps per day. My B4 exercise BG compared to after exercise BG is a drop of 49, at least on this Master Trainer day.

gadget, I try to "sneak" my steps in. Parking away from the door at stores. Taking the long way to the floors at work. I have steps in my house and I have to take them if I want to go to bed or the powder room, lol. So I drink alot of water so I have to make extra trips to the powder room, therefore extra steps.

Even though the room was a little empty, everyone who popped in to support and to share are truly appreciated. Thanks to all who popped in and please take care in the heat. :D

Hey there everyone! I managed a walk around a very long mall as I took the kids shopping the other day. Bought myself a new swimsuit and made my moves in the ocean on the 4th! Yesterday was a walk through the waterpark with the kids and a ride on the lazy river…hahaha..they helped me get into one of the tubes using just my left arm to hang on and then I couldn't get back out without their help! My right shoulder seems to be healing up pretty good. About a week and half left on vacation here in beautiful South Carolina.

Oh no , not the laydown! I use to do that, then I couldn't get up because I couldn't bend my legs. Had to lay there until my son came by the room to see what all the rumbling was, LOL. I have to stay vertical this time.

I am still here, pant -pant, have been real busy with work. I have managed to keep going with my regular early morning cardio workouts. No walks for me and tired in the evenings, feeling the HEAT and no rain in NM!

NO rain here either. The worst part is when you get the thunder and no action…something like dating, LOL.

LOL@your statement. I know the feeling. We finally got rain but you couldn't tell it by the ground. We need about 8 inches to wet the dirt. I've been trying some of the exercises on TV-On Demand. Unfortunately my knees won't let me do most and once I get on the floor I have find something sturdy to get my big butt up. I guess walking is my best bet but 100 degrees!!! I guess I could walk around the house fifty million times. Oh… my daughter did find an Ab Lounger thingy where you just swing from side to side. I'm going to give it a try and see how it goes.

Tried a PIYO, half Yoga/half Pilates class today, different. Didn't add any steps to my pedometer, but did sweat.

I had to turn my head to the side (like a puppy) when I read that. PIYO? That's different gadget. Keep us posted, my interest is peeked now :D

gadgetgirl007
gadgetgirl007 2012-07-06 16:48:45 -0500 Report

I tried a yoga class before, and that teacher had the most annoying voice, so a no fun experience. Then I tried a Pilates class once, but did that right after a Body Pump class, so was rather feeble, LOL. PIYO seemed easier somehow. It was a substitute teacher/trainer. Unfortunately class starts at 4:30, the time I get off work, so I would miss at least half of it. I would like to try it again. Lot's of core work, planks, push-ups, lunges & other positions.

gadgetgirl007
gadgetgirl007 2012-07-06 19:06:20 -0500 Report

They used to have a class called "Willpower and Grace", similar to PIYO but with a little more cardio then balance. I liked the title, because I don't have any willpower or grace, LOL. The willpower was to keep on going with the cardio & the grace was to maintain balance on one leg. Both classes are done barefoot.

Today I stretched…Now hold on for all of you who just said thats not real exercising Somoca. I thought the same thing until I went to a stretch class. They really have those. I thought I fell into the Yoga class for a minute. As I planned my getaway, my body began to feel better. I stretch from my neck to my toes and EVERYTHING in the middle or should be in the middle, LOL. after fifteen minutes, I felt better! I felt my blood pumping and my limbs were more flexible. Clear thinking and WOW. I learn something new today.

So where did you find a stretch class?

Somoca
Somoca 2012-07-05 14:17:10 -0500 Report

The local YWCA. I went in to find out some information on another issue and the ladies were talking about the class and I tried it. The instructor was very "hippy-woodstock" kind of person but she knew what she was talking about.

I wonder if an "out of shape, non-exercising person" could do those stretches. I am going to check with the Y here and see if they are offered. What a cool idea. Thanks for posting it!

I would post every week, I love it that you put this here for us! I have been out of town again, this time class reunion (DH's) and just got back. It is still way too hot to exercise outside and my gym buddy has had prior commitments but heck life gets in the way with all of us. I don't ever give up, just move on to the next day and do what I can. Lots of folks are on the go, I figure if people aren't posting their activity they are too busy doing other summertime things. It is not a race it is a journey, we all are healthier because you care to put this here for us. Thanks!

Lizard you are on the move alot this summer. It reminds me of a saying my grandfather use to say, " as long as you keep moving, they can't bury you". I am still trying to get the mall walkers not to run me over, LOL. I have been inspired by you all. I love it when you guys write to inspire each other. I read the replies and feel great. You all are great :D

2 hours of power walking through a huge mall yesterday with four teenagers (while watching to be sure nothing unpaid for slipped into their pockets). It was a real workout for all of us. Hope they slept as well as I did last night!
