After reading my notes ,I have found a question that my Doc asked, Why are you angry, when you have a low BS? I didnt have a proper answer to give. I had replied,It is just something that happens.
My lowest BS through my times has been 24, still coherant(kind of freaks me out, that I didnt fall out of consceousness?). When the BS starts to rise to a good level ,then the "angry" goes away.
Has anyone here ever been asked the same question? What was your reply?

Knock on wood mine doesn't drop to often. When I get the shakes I head for the OJ and it passes..Now when my BGL gets high that's another story..Just leave me alone..Everything and everybody irritates me :-)

The lowest I've gone has been 26, too scared and almost passed out. Not angry or mad wasn't even thinking straight or I guess I was had to fix it! 3 glucose tablets and a can of juice. My moods change when others around me take my lows lightly I am a kind of person that doesn't want to bother anyone else so I fix it quietly! Highs and lows just change me and my mood I go into a "fix it mode."

Never been asked the question before but I had a low once of 29 so I feel your pain! LOL! I get panicky when I get in the 40's~have trouble getting my hubby to recognize how I feel at that time. When I recover he tells me I don't wait long enough for the glucose to work and I tell him how panicky I am and if I am gonna over treat that is just what I am going to do. He is also type2 and has NEVER had a low. Has no idea how awful it is! I usually rebound and wish I hadn't had so much glucose to bring me up but it is what it is. I will do anything to just stop that horrible feeling.

On another note since I have been on Bydureon my lows are only in the 60's, not as symptomatic and are treated with food and over very quickly. Much nicer to deal with!

My Endo told me that it is a natural reaction in the body to get angry/irritable when BG is low. I get irritable when my BG gets too high! Insulin is a hormone and any hormonal imbalance in the body can cause unpleasant physical/mental/emotional changes until corrected.

It makes sense, If you stop and think about it..Your emotions and your well being go hand in hand. The word BALANCE should be in capital letters..It effects so many different aspects of our lives both physically and emotionally. When everything is in balance the rest seems to fall in place

I get extremely irritable when my number is dropping too fast. Once I test and see how low it is, then I'm usually just in panic, survival mode, which does tend to make me short tempered… I'm a hot head anyway, so low BS numbers do nothing help this. I've never had a doctor ask me why I get crabby when low, just has always been that way.
