I am now diagnosed with hypoglycemia and Type 2.
Now going to be working on losing weight. I have been toning up and i know I have been losing but the #'s on the scale do not show what I feel cloths wise.
Then you have your Dr.s say lose weight. I finally found out today I may not be eating enough. Being hypo I am storing the fat and so things have to be changed so i can have better control on my BG #'s I was am going extremes 3.4 to 12.9 doesn't matter the time of day.
So here I am again hoping for input for diet and suggestions on easy way to cope!
Thanks all!

Hey Diva,
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism(Hoshimoto's disease) about 5 months ago. I feel like a blimp. My endocrinologist, who I sought out myself, said he was pretty happy with my diabetes but then tested me for hypothyroidism. He was smart enough to take one look at me, feel my legs and do the blood work. I will be 60 in October and I am not enjoying life at all. I am on disability for lower lumbar issues and always in pain but the money just pays for my 2 mortgages and bills. If it weren't for my dogs, I don't think I would want to be on this earth anymore. My whole family is gone, even my younger brother who passed in 2009 at the age of 50. It's just wrong. Now I'm having problems with my liver and they think it's because I'm on a statin for my cholesterol. I guess my body makes it because I am a vegetarian, LOL. What is BG? I'm not sure because I don't do things the right way. Is that blood gluclose?

I am here for support if you'd like it. I feel so fat I can't stand it but it's also my fault because I have no enthusiasm to get on the treadmill. One of these days.

This may interest you, there are many theories and just as many pros and cons to losing weight, look at this video for an explanation of the fat storing process of the human body, not the product that is being advertised, I do not recommend nor do I endorse anything:

Eating more meals throughout the day can help regulate blood sugar in some people with diabetes, according to a 1993 study published by J. Bertelsen et al. in "Diabetes Care." Spikes and crashes in blood sugar can lead to intense hunger pangs, while keeping your blood sugar even helps keep your appetite under control.

Take your time and find a method that works for you.

I have been concentrating more on my blood sugar control than my weight and the weight is coming off, more slowly than I would like sometimes, but it is coming off and staying off.
In attempting to tame the tiger(my diabetes) I am eating healthier and exercising much more, which in turn is taking the weight off and toning my muscles. Much luck with your fight!! ;-)

Red Flower Lady is dead on. Especially about the muscles. If you just started your work out you will build a lot of muscle tissue. Does your muscle feel sore for a couple of minutes after your workout or for the rest of the day? And how much water do you drink? Drinking before those meals, Red Flower Lady mentioned, will help you not be so hungry and also help remove the fat out of your body. Important thing to note; as time goes by your mind will kick into defense mode (since you are changing so much) and trick you into thinking, "you deserve a reward!" This is a self damaging trap. Don't fall for it. Reward yourself with something fun to help you stay motivatied like a pair of jeans a size smaller. I would say "good luck" but you got more than run of the mill luck, you have yourself.

Hi, I would suggest eating six small meals a day instead of the usual three, that is what I do. This way you don't feel hungry, have better control of bg, and you will be burning calories. Then I would add in daily exercise that gets your heart rate up so as to burn off the weight. You need to do both, eat right and exercise to drop the weight. Also, don't worry about what the scale shows and actually weighing once a week is good. You're right your clothes will tell you if you are dropping the weight and also, muscle weighs so you could be smaller and actually weigh more.

Make sure you know what portion sizes are as you'll be surprised by the correct measurement instead of what we think. Spreading your meals out will help your hypoglycemia. Good luck, I know you can do it!
