This article is about hamburgers, but many of the topping ideas are worth considering for your next patty or piece of steak or chicken on the grill. All are under 100 calories. Most are reasonable carbohydrate choices. They all sound tasty and some are really different.

I follow a gluten free diet because of gluten intolerance, so I'd skip the bun and have a patty with toppings, but that's my adaptation for good health. You would, of course, have to adapt to your own diet plan.

I mix 96/4% hamburger with ground turkey mix in home grown onions and some spices then i cook them on the grill. for a topping i get sliced mushrooms and taco cheese and put them on a wheat burger bun that i toast on the grill.

An over easy/soft fried egg on top. You can get creative with your other items.
Bacon is good. I was talked into eating one and have been hooked since

The island equivalent to this has a scoop of rice under it and gravy on top. It is called "Loco moco".

I start withb a cooked patty and top it with a tuna salad mixed with low fat mayo sweet relish and diced jalapeno pepers, another patty goes on top then I top that with either a slice of swiss cheese or horseradish cheese into the microwave 20 seconds to melt the cheese and i'm done..I eat it like that with no bun

I think that violates my personal "never mix species" rule of food. Cows can't swim and you can't milk a tuna, so they shouldn't be eaten together.

Yes but it tastes soooo good…Guess what I'm having tonight

Let's think hard … would that be a tuna sandwich on a hamburger patty without bread or bun? You could use 2 hamburger patties in place of the bread!

You can top a burger with anything you want, avacado, guacamole, chilli, pickle, peppers and onions, all kinds of cheese's, spinach, french fried onions, sliced tomato with cottage cheese on top, slaw, a mixture of a teaspoon of ketchup and a little mustard for the tartness, baked beans, turkey bacon bits. You can even grill the bacon. French onion dip. Just let your imagination and your taste run wild.

So true, Joyce. Articles like this just stimulate the imagination if/when you may see something or some mix of things you haven't tried yet.

interesting. I usually eat my patty plain with a fork, and like you, without bread/bun. May need to take a look at some of these more closely.

Yes, they do have interesting possibilities for some different and not so ho-hum flavors. Personally, I'll skip the second one that looks pretty much like the fat ladened all-American cheeseburger, but the others have real possibility.

I'm sure Nick will think of some creative options to add and share with us too!

Oh i like mine with some green pepper and onion rings grilled on the grill, then top the whole mess with provalone cheese. Down here it's not uncommon to top them with chili and slaw. Had "sliders" made with chorizo suasage and topped with guac and shoestring fried onions (definately treat day for me).
