Sitting here watching PBS and they're talking about Blood Sugar Solution. It's like $250 bucks… Wondering if anyone has any more info.

It also sounds like another book out there.Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution..I have the book and no doubt his results and findings are true. It's 6-12-12 plan limit your carb intake to 6 grams of carbs for breakfast 12 for lunch and 12 for supper..
To extreme for my taste (pun intended) but I came away with a great list of what I should never eat..and what I could

From reading the reviews posted here and reading some of his book on Amazon, it looks like a low carb diet way of eating. If you don’t want to spend the $250.00 on PBS his book sells for about $17.00 on Amazon. From what I read so far it looks like a good program to follow.

I followed a similar way of eating and my blood sugar went from 300 plus to almost normal numbers in about 6 weeks. My A1C went from 14.1 to 5.9 in less than 4 months. I have been controlling my blood sugar with diet alone for about 3 years now and all my A1C’s since getting the 14.1 have been at 6.0 or less. I was able to quit all meds after 7 weeks and haven’t needed any since. Hoping to never need more than diet or exercise for the rest of my life.

This is what I believe helped me the most.

Feb 2009 I was diagnosed with a fasting blood sugar of 366 and A1C of 14.1. Started to eat a salad every day at supper. Also started to eat lots of low carb vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, cucumbers, spinach, pickles and sauerkraut. Started to drink 8+ glasses of water every day.

I then bought a meter and started to test my blood sugar before and after each meal. At first I was testing 2 hours after each meal and when my numbers dropped a lot I started testing 1 hour after meals. I test 5-7 times a day. I cut back or eliminated foods that spiked my blood sugar more than 50 points after eating.

By testing I found that foods like bread and most foods made of grains along with pasta, rice, corn, potatoes, oatmeal, cereals, chips, crackers, cakes, cookies, candy, soda, fruits, fruit juices, milk and most foods that contain more than 5-6 net carbs per serving as found on the package label all spiked my blood sugar. Some people can cut back on these foods and some people like me have to stop eating them.

After about 6-8 weeks my blood sugar readings were almost normal levels.

I found by reducing and eliminating high carb starchy foods helped me a lot. By adding small amounts of chicken, beef, pork or a hard boiled egg to my meals helped reduce blood sugar spikes also.

Good luck
Kevin

yah I've been reading and I watch the video as well on this. I was just hoping to find more feed back on it as if someone on here is doing it or looking into it as well to get opinions. I'm going to talk to my Doctor this week about it as well.

"Blood sugar solution" is a book and a program from Dr Mark Hyman. See his webpage here ~ http://drhyman.com/about-2/about-dr-mark-hyman/

He is not a MD but is a practitioner of what he calls "Functional Medicine" read about it here ~ http://drhyman.com/about-2/about-functional-m...

Here is a website that reviews the blood sugar

solution : http://www.dietspotlight.com/the-blood-sugar-...

I think it is costly, because you need to take their supplements, which may or may not work.
Here is another site : http://www.dietsinreview.com/diets/the-blood-...
If you choose to do this, please consult your doctor before starting any program.

Howdy re1deer. Just tried your link and got a page from Diabeticconnect saying "Sorry, that page doesn't exist!" I'll see if I can find a link for what you have found.

EDIT: I found diet spotlight site but when I searched there for "Blood sugar solution" it returned no results. Sorry. Will have to look somewhere else.
