"Making changes, one day at a time!! Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Wow, What a Ride!!!""

"Not only our actions but also our omissions become our destiny" is a quote from Heinrich Zimmer's "The King and the Corpse" edited by Joseph Campbell. I came across this line while reading Abraham Verghese's novel "Cutting for Stone."
The quote speaks to me by reminding me that not only what I decide to do (my actions), but also what I decide not to do (my omissions) impacts my diabetes.

DC friends I would like to say that we are not here to fight with each other or step on each other's toes…we are here to share our feelings, our experiences, our thoughts and grief with each other,to share our love and warmth and our daily lives, to learn from our veterans on here…let's all pray together for our loved ones ,our friends and those who are lonely with no one to talk to and find solace on this site…God bless all of us. Be good.

Not surprised; you're always pissed and ranting about someone. The thing is, you saw this exchange the same day and THEN went and started #2, without ever giving anyone a chance. Don't bother to deny; you already admitted in another thread that you didn't know if the other person knew how to do it or not. If you had taken the time, you would have seen the other posts started by her or would have sent instructions if you really cared. You need to step off me. You know you're wrong or you wouldn't be so defensive. Have a nice day! :)

Frankly, I had been thinking of restarting that thread for some time, you can call me all of the names that you want, they are probably true, but in my eyes I just wasnt thinking of all that followed—-I am not smart enough to PLAN such a stinky thing—-but I can see where it looks that way——-I just like to feel included and be able to contribute too—- I really didn't think about it to the extent that you give me credit for——-whatever—-think what you like, as nothing I can say will make a difference. It really doesn't matter, I was mad because you attacked me first, THAT was why I reacted—-and maybe I did feel guilty about jumping in—-I have been told that before, much to my surprise—-I was just trying to be a part of this site. But, think what you will. Pat R

Cherry, maybe you should re-read your comments to me, you were slamming my integrity, and that is name calling to me. You could have stated the obvious without all of the negative adjectives—-Stop and think—-sorry if I over-reacted, but your feet have NOT trod where mine have been, and I will NOT let such comments slide!! I USED TO, and I will NOT go down that road again!! Just be thoughtful of your words, and I will mine. Pat R

Hello Pat. I am treading carefully here so as not to enrage you again. I never called you names or "slammed your integrity"-again, you are confusing me with someone else who did; insisting that I did does not make it true. I did state the truth and you went off on one of your familiar rants. I am not responsible for your actions, only you are. Your comments towards me remind me of when you are talking about your husband, fellow church members, doctors, ex-coworkers, etc. Wonder what they would have to say if they could see what you write about them here. It is never fair to criticize those who are unable to defend themselves. This is the last time I will respond to your nonsense unless you attack me again. Have a nice day.

If Im not sweet it's because I'm not high.

I use to say that alot when I was a kid. It's a little silly and stupid but it just popped in my head again after years of saying it.

Contentment grows up from a grateful heart.
We may sometimes think to ourselves,I'd be happy,if only. However, some of the most discontent people are those who have it all.
Contentment begins, not in having that one more thing that eludes our grasp, but in becoming deeply thankful for the things that are already in our grasp.

Elrond 2010-02-02 01:14:53 -0600 Report

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.

As his car passed, no children appeared.
Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!
He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to
the spot where the brick had been thrown.

The angry
driver then jumped out of the
car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up
against a parked car shouting,

'What was that all about and who are you? Just what
the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that
brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money.. Why
did you do it?' The young boy was apologetic.
'Please, mister…please, I'm sorry but I didn't
know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the
brick because no one else would stop…' With tears
dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth
pointed to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my
brother, 'he said 'He rolled off the curb and fell
out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him

Now sobbing, the boy
asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help
me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and
he's too heavy for me.'

Moved beyond words,
the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling
lump in his throat.. He hurriedly lifted the
handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took
out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh
scrapes and cuts.. A quick look told him everything
was going to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless
you,' the grateful child told the stranger. Too
shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy!
push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk
toward their home..

It was a long, slow
walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very
noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair
the dented side door. He kept the dent there to
remind him of this message: 'Don't go through life
so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to
get your attention!' God whispers in our souls and
speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have
time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's
our choice to listen or

My favorite quote is by John William Gardner:

I think I just figured it out James. If you are telling God your plans, you aren't going to be able to do them because you have died.

God doesn't have to cause your death, it could be more like we think we have our life planned, and God allows roadblocks to get in the way of our plans.
