Skip the scale and grab a measuring tape. Your waist should be less than half your height to keep heart disease at bay.
Example: if youre 5 feet tall (60 inches), your waist should measure less than 30 inches.

Carrying your fat around your midsection is linked to high triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and an increased risk for diabetes.

I'm good with the "less than half my height" measurement, but I'd sure like to lose more of it. As I've lost pounds, I have lost tummy, but like Baker commented below, it just isn't going away as fast as I'd like.

I think the biggest decrease I saw was after I stopped using any canned, boxed, or bottled foods and started filtering my water … so attributed some of it to the chemicals and hormones injested through those sources.

I really need help in this area. I have lost weight but the inches on my waist don't seem to be decreasing as fast as other parts of my body.

Can we just use your waist as the example Renee? I know its not true but I feel as wide as I am tall!

I like your way of looking at it..I'm 74 inches tall with a 36"waist and weigh 215 lbs.If I look at the latest height to weight chart I am 30lbs over weight. I am down from 230 and my goal is 200lbs, once I get there I'll see how I feel about losing another 15 lbs.

This is good, I am Already there, now the key is staying there. Sometimes that's the trick, off to join the others with some cardio!

Are you as member of a gym or do you workout at home? My only cardio workout is turning on music and grooving!

I mix it up live too far to go to gym. I have tons of DVDs and the old VHS from taebo to zumba. I love to move so will work with tapes, sometimes do my own moves with with my iPod. I am allowing myself to record new workout music once a month, just started this. My first workout had Michael Jackson and the bee gees tops! I also like to hike since I live in the mountains!

After 90 lbs my only hope is to get to be 6'8" tall. On the brighter side, at my old weight I'd have to be 11'8"!

A long time back there was a Garfield TShirt with just that saying on it. It was him on it and over his head, I think it was, it said-"I'm not overweight, I'm undertall". We need to bring that TShirt back-RIGHT NOW!!!

Congrats that is quite an accomplishment! So really youre not overweight, youre undertall :)

See I've been telling people for years if I were 7ft tall I'd be skinny!
I'm only 5ft 2", another thing I say is I'm not short I'm fun sized.
Considering this new info I guess I've got a lot of work to do!
