The group got off to a great start last week. People were sling away calories left and right and it was GREAT!!!! Now let's see if we can keep it going. For those who popped on board, be proud of yourself, you are awesome. Those who haven't come on board, you can this week. No judging for late starts. So let's go!!!!!!!!

Another week gone. Got in eight miles this week on the tread mill and lost 5 more pounds.

Somoca 2012-05-27 16:41:40 -0500 Report

After eating dinner tonight, I think I found your 5 pounds Baker, LOL. defintiely going walking tomorrow.

2012-05-28 13:28:33 -0500 Report

It's OK to cheat every now and then. it helps to keep us going and not to get frustrated with ourselves.

Controlled 2012-05-28 13:44:43 -0500 Report

I found myself doing exactly that last night! Perfect eating all day long. Late last night (and for the first time in many, many months) I ate chocolate. I can't believe that nobody falls off the wagon on occasion.

2012-05-28 13:55:41 -0500 Report

Been there done that!!! We just get back up and carry on. Don't beat yourself up I am sure we have all slipped every now and then. I know I have.

Controlled 2012-05-28 14:15:16 -0500 Report

Good advice. Actually, I attend yoga classes twice a week and fitness classes an additional two days a week. I keep close watch on all the things that we need to do. What I learned from this is that it had nothing to do with hunger or denial. It was very, very late at night on an holiday weekend. I was watching TV and just grabbed something. The thing is, I thought it would be better (based on recalling past eating habits).

I see that you are consistent with exercising. I think it's great that you post that. I hope others do too. I like the collective consciousness on the site posting all the things that we do right (rather than each of the potential complications that we have…although I know that's important too).

Saturday morning did 20 minutes on stationary bike ,then did some leg exercises/weights then did 20 more minutes on the bike !

2012-05-27 13:22:39 -0500 Report

Good job. I need to start some weight training myself. just trying to loose as much weight as I can before hitting the weights.

Gambling 2012-05-27 13:58:27 -0500 Report

start slow with the weights .If using special machines get the form down (keep the knees straight etc )

Gambling 2012-05-27 14:58:15 -0500 Report

at the gym , the staff there gave me a walk thru and even set up a routine and walked me thru the machines! last time i lifted weights was in high school on a universal machine

Somoca 2012-05-27 16:38:21 -0500 Report

Gambling, depending on your age, it is my understanding that women over 35 benefit greatly from weightlifting. Even after you finish the routine you have, the calories continue to burn for some time. I was told that it is just as important as any other form of exercise.

Caroltoo 2012-05-27 15:57:28 -0500 Report

That has a familiar ring to it! I use some also, but approach it with care because I've not had the "walk through".

Gambling 2012-05-27 17:05:16 -0500 Report

yup , they told me with the leg machines ( a few of them) to use a ball between my knees) to keep em pushing in while i lift or push

Great saturday workout!!!!! Impressive!!!!!

MoeGig 2012-05-25 22:16:17 -0500 Report

Great effort by everyone on this thread…I may sound like an extremist, but this morning did 1 1/2 miles of "wind sprints" on the treadmill plus five upper body machines to the max. My routine 4-5 days per week. I admit it, fear of failure is my motivation. After 46 years type 1, do not want to be incapacitated at all cost. Life is too much fun. Hope to die standing up (healthy)…as the Greeks say…:>)

mariantlibrarian 2012-05-25 20:41:21 -0500 Report

ok, today I managed to do about 25 deep knee bends and took a walk with the my son and the kids through the park. Didn't manage to get as far as they did, but something is better than nothing!

2012-05-27 13:26:53 -0500 Report

Somoca 2012-05-25 11:06:27 -0500 Report

I went the route of stretching. Moving my body and getting the circulation going. I mean real stretching and quiet thinking. The instructor really made my muscles move and twist. I could feel the blood surging. I am off to gospel aerobics for 20 minutes. Everyone has done such a great job this week. I AM INSPIRED :D

Well, I'm real late but I'll try to track down the original post and see what I can do about catching up. Seems like I always miss something good when I don't check in for a while. But me and Murphy's law have been dueling for years. :)

Okay I saw the other 2 discussions, so no catching up but I'm on board from here on out.

I just started doing the Zumba 2 weeks ago and am really enjoying it.
I am now exercising 210 minutes a week, of course that does not include the housework, yard work and trying to keep up with my 5 year old grandson that I am raising.
