The consult with the weight loss surgeon went very well. He has suggested the gastric bypass since I have so much weight to loose. That's the way I was leaning anyway. I want to make it permenant.
As it turns out, with my insurance I have to be on a physician supervised health and weight loss program for one year before the surgery will be done. So I will see the RD next month and get in touch with the insurance to see about starting the exercise program.
My ultimate goal is to get off all of my medication. I know that may not happen but if I can get off of most of it I will be tickled pink. My other goal is to get below 200lbs. I haven't been down there since I was 20 years old!! I appreciate all of the encouragement from everyone. It means a lot to me!!
And so it begins…

That is good. My daughter has a friend who was very heavy but not at the weight required for the surgery. He actually gained 20 more pounds to have it. He had to do what you mentioned as well as see a counselor to determine if he would be able to handle it, mental state, and all that is required, like support system etc. He was only 22 at the time.

After the year he had the surgery and followed the plan and he is very thin now(140lbs) and has been that way for 6yrs! He has had no problems with the surgery or what follows. We know a couple of people who had it and lost alot of weight and then two years later put it all and more back on. Drs say that is normal to go back up if you are not following the plan and haven't corrected the mental issues that caused you to gain the weight to begin with.

I'm rooting for you and hope everything turns out as planned. Please just do as told to have a positive outcome:)

Thanks for the kind encouraging words! I intend to do just what I am told. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Plus I don't want to have to go on disability at the age of 50 because of my weight!

There you go, good attitude so you WILL be a good choice. You can do this, if it gets hard, remember the outcome you are working towards:)
