Neuropathy pain or shinles??
Hi everyone, Last night I kept waking up to a strange sensation, when I would lie on my left side. In my left leg, just above the knee, thigh area. Its a sharpe needle type pain. I kept wiping the sheets down thinking there was something there I brought into bed from my feet or something. I kept doing that for hours it seems. So around 8 a.m. I finally got out of bed. I felt around the sheets again. There was nothing there. I felt where I had been lieing on my leg, and sure enough, I felt the same thing on my thigh. It a really sharp nerve pain. I am wondering if it's from neuropathy, or shingles? Don't shingles start at the waist though? The pain is still there to. Just wondering what your thoughts might be on this one??

the neuropathy I have started in both arms 1 night, when I woke abruptly from serious pain in bicepts, as time went by it has moved into the forearms area as well as in the legs. When I walk for exercise ,I cant stand the pain from pressure on the shins. I do endure the pain without medication, meditation works a good bit of the time, I still try to stay somewhat active, when I do find the pain untolerable i relax for a few days and start over again.
Sounds like me, If its not bad I try to get in my exercise everyday.
Perhaps if you place a small pillow between your knees, or a folded or rolled up towel between your legs when you are on your side it might help. Sometimes the angle of our legs can pinch a nerve, usually the sciatic. The pain can continue long after we are up and moving around.
I have sciatica in my right leg. Is very painful at times. This in my left leg above the knee, thigh area. I have tried pillows, but the stabbing is there no matter what I try.
Nana my sister has sciatica and is now going to a chiropractor. He sent her for an MRI and she has a herniated disc and two bulging disk in her back. The chiropractor is treating this with a compression machine. Sciatica can really be a pain in the butt once it really gets inflamed.
It sure can. It's no fun to deal with. So far medication is helping. But eventually will go along those lines of seeing a chiropractor.
Shingles is a rash caused but the chicken pox virus. Neuropathy is the pain you are experiencing. Mine got much better and disappeared once my blood sugars was under control.
That's what I figured to thanks.
Neuropathy go to Lyrica.com and ready more on it. You need to get in to see your doctor because they do have treatment for that. Shingles would be a bad rash that itchy all of the time. I would call and go see my doctor before it get worse. That way you will know what it is, and know how to handle it.
Thanks, I will do that :)
