Dr is putting me on Metformin 500 2 a day with my Glipizide 1 a day.
Just wondering and hoping for some good feed back on this. My b/s has
been creeping up and she said I need a little more help. Being old (69)
does not help situation. All changes are a little scary

When i first started, i was on 1 glyburide and 1 metformin. My morning sugars were around 275. Now i am working on becoming diet controlled. I no longet take glyburide and my morning sugars are 102 on a good day and 124 on a bad day, this is on one metformin a day and strict diet.

I am.on 500 of metformin 1 a day. My dr says you can lose a few lbs off it, but it shouldnt be alot. I lost weight on it but i am also on a diet too. The med is great and has helped me alot. Only thing is getting through the first few weeks if it gives you diarrhea. Your body should get used to the med and it will pass, but if it doesnt, you can always ask for the metformin extended release. I hear it is a little gentler. Give it a try, i dont think you will lose dramtic weight. I went from an A1C of 10.5- 6.2 in 4 months.

Can I ask you what your morning b/s readings are? I have had no stomach
problems yet, but I was told to take after meals on a full stomach.

I have been on 500 mg Metformin, 1 in the am & 2 in the pm for over three months now with no problems and a A1C of 6.2.
For 6 months before that 500 mg twice a day with no problems.

Im T1 and my Endo thought I may have developed insulin resistance to injected insulin so he put me on 500 mg. once a day and I dropped 15 pounds in 2 months because the Met killed my appetite. Im slowly putting some back on but its hard work.

I am on Metform 1000 mg twice a day. I first I called my Dr a nut! Seriously, I hated that he did that. I know he's a good Dr. So I apolojized later :) It was hard at first. Watch out for diarreah though, you will get that. Stay hydrated. Being careful to chart your intakes with that, so you won't over dose. Good luck. :)
