There's been a lbit of "buzz" here on DiabeticConnect about hidden "sugars" in foods common in our typical american eating style. This is a non-scoring quiz since you don't choose an answer. This is intended to increase your awareness regarding the "sugars" in the typical american way of eating.

Were there any which surprised you?

I got a lot of them right, wimply by deciding which was the most unlikely sounding. But I missed all the ones where they were the same! :)

That’s a great post and a great quiz from Reader;s Digest to get people aware that sugar surround us everywhere in almost every food or snack we eat and let’s not forget sugary beverages that supply more than 47% of sugar in our diet. Sugar is converted to fat that sits in our bellies causing and worsening diabetes and heart disease. So let's be on the look out for any excess unwanted sugar in the food and beverages we consume.

Fortunately, I got most of these right (and don't eat the majority of this stuff). At least I've confirmed that I'm not exaggerating my concerns regarding mass-produced "food", which I've commented about (probably too frequently here). Is there really any surprise why there are so many health concerns today?

Great post.

That was the same reaction I had. I knew it had some, but not THAT much. I use it without measuring in so many of my recipes. I guess I need to pay more attention to it.

The other one that surprised me was the peanut butter crackers and the corn muffin. I thought the corn muffin would be about the same and was shocked to see it was so much less. Now, i don't know if that included just added sugar and not the natural sugars of the corn.
