first off has anyone ever been told there blood work was unbelievable for a person being diabetic an having neuropathy ,he said he told his supervisor about my blood work an he said it cant be right, they had it done twice an the same resalts,I gauss it pays to listen to your body an eat what it wants mine always wants lots of vegie's,the emg test wasnt painful as some said that it was,no worse then getting shock by a solar electric fence charger.just makes you jump a little no pain at all,I thought it was neat watching my legs an feet move without me doing it,an he told me everytime he was going to shock me an explained what he was doing an why he was doing it.in a way I understood it,christopher m zellek,md is a great in neurology, the bad news is I have no nerves for feeling in my feet an legs, only the nerves that control the movement of your feet an legs,It hasnt got to the main nerves yet he said,Im just going to be in pain for the rest of my life, hope this new meds will relieve some of it,but you cant just set an wait to die,get your but up an do something for awhile an take a break an get right bake to it,just takes longer to do something, what I cant stand is he says I cant go back to my business or do construction work,I dont no anything else,I've been doing this since I was 15 yrs old, dont have an education, well they always said have faith an he will deliver the path you take, who an he said dont take any vitamins,I told him I never have in my life taken vitamins.you dont have to if you eat a well balanced meal, sorry to unload with some of this, but needed to get of my chest
an dont mean to brag either about blood work,If it wasnt for DC an all your help my BS an A1C wouldnt be where they are today, thanks for all the help in the last 2 yrs

Howdy Jimmuel!

First off congratulations on your bloodwork!

Sorry that you have the neuropthy. You say you have no nerves for feeling. Does that mean you feel nothing in your feet, or do you feel pain from the neuropthy?

I want to let you know that MDs (or other Drs for that matter) do not know EVERYthing! Example: I was told when I went on dialysis for kidney shutdown that I would be on dialysis for the rest of my life. As it turned out I was off dialysis in 10 months (Nov 2006 through July 2007) and haven't been back on it since. I am constantly now on the verge of needing to go back on for over a year now but Dr clears me as OK for another 2 months.

So Drs do know a lot, but they do not know it ALL!

I also want to encourage you to get a new trade or occupation — one that uses your mind. It may be tough to start out, but once you get on a new path you'll look back and wonder where the time went. At least that was the way it was when I went to 4 yrs of college and 4 yrs of grad school! I HAD considered being a farmer and earthmoving machine operator (back hoe, bulldozer, earthmover) but my dad's untimely death deep-sixed those dreams. Plus I didn't want to work in a hand tool factory for the rest of my life, so I started going to college for a profession which interested me greatly. Eventually (after 10 yrs in that profession) I couldn't hack the demands it was making on me so I became a Certified Nurse Aide, which was a job which I really enjoyed. I worked 11 yrs in that profession until I became physically disabled.

Were I in your situation, I would go to your state vocational rehab office and sit down with a vocational rehab counsellor and take an inventory of your abilities, strengths, skills and see what you can do with them. They can also help you with finding work which would be interesting to you and going to school to get ready for that work or profession. Each state has their own rules and programs.

Praying that you will have a profitable and useful life from this time forward.

Blessings!

James Baker

I have ADHD too (and I earned a Masters degree).

If you've built and run a profitable busioness YOU"RE NO DUMMY! I admit I don't have the Bipolar or the LD, but tell your Voc rehab all your "medical and mental health challenges" and perhaps they can work up a program with an occupational therapist to help you with those "challenges" (as my Social worker wife would say when she was alive).

In fact the more challenges you may have the better the Voc Rehab system would want to help you.

Actually even with my ADHD and my dyscalculia (dislexia related to numbers and math problems) I actually functioned at a higher level than most of the other clients in Voc Rehab according to my counselor. I didn't get much in the was of schooling or training. What they did for me was hire a "headhunter" to find me a position. That process was just starting when my kidneys quit working and put me into the hospital for 3 weeks and put on dialysis for 10 months. So no leads for a new line of work.

I would expect that you may get about as much help as they are able to give you.

it is that or go for Soc Security Disability / Medicare. But I sense that you may wish to try to earn your own way, at least for a while.
