Howdy hw! WELCOME to DiabeticConnect.

I just read your discussion "Blood Glucose reading". I saw you were in good hands with Nick and Jigsaw answering that discussion question and then saw this hadn't had a comment yet so I will jump in.

I am reading this question in light of the answers you received in your previous discussion so I will focus my remarks in light of that discussion.

Some folks have reported using peanut butter on a stick of celery as a before bed snack. Others have reported using peanut butter and an apple the same way. My Dr recommended to me using peanut butter spread on a graham cracker square (not the 2 square rectangle) when I had the same problem.

It matters little what protein you eat IMO because protein of any kind will stay in your stomach longer for digestion. You could have a piece of chicken left over from a previous meal, or a hard boiled egg, you could fry a "minute steak". The possibilities are many.

I pray this helps. Let me know if I somehow missed the intent of your question.

Blessings to you and yours!

James Baker
