I had gastric bypass surgury on the 27th of Feb. So far I have lost about 35 lbs but my sugars are still high. They have me on a sliding scale starting at 164-194 is 1 unit, 195-224 is 2 units,225-254 is e units, 255-284 is 4 units. Finally my dr put me on lantis . Right now i am up to 17 units increasing by one unit every other day until I get my morning sugar down to 150.

This hasn't happened yet and my sugars during the day are in the mid to upper 200. I don't get that much to eat because my stomach is about the size of an egg and I have to eat about 2oz of protein at each meal and then a couple of spoonfuls of a veg. Then carbohydrate if I can. I find I can't eat all of the food and try to split it up into several meals but my sugar is still high.

My endo isn't concerned. He is waiting for more weight to come off but I am concerned about what the sugar is doing to me. Any ideas?

With you having a UTI that could cause the high blood sugars. You are also under a lot of stress worrying about all the problems you are having since your surgery. Any time you are under stress of any kind it can affect your blood sugar readings. I find that my numbers go up when it is getting close to my "time of the month". Even if I'm just not feeling well for any reason they can go up. So, try not to be so hard on yourself. Give yourself some more time to heal.

I don't have many carbs. I get 2 oz of protein or 1 egg for breakfast, 2 oz protein for lunch and a veg, like broccoli, green beans tomatoes, ( 2 tsps), and the same for dinner. I can add 1/4 cup po This is really starting to get me down. It's almost 2 months since the surgery tatoe or something like that but usually I can't eat all of this at one meal. Went back to the dr. again today for uti and my sugar was was the highest possible on the sticks they use to measure and there is still blood in my urin. This has been going on for over 3 weeks now. I have been on antibiotics since the surgery due to animal bites and now this. Today they raised me humalog up a point for the scale until my sugars get to where they should be but I'm really frustrated.

really sorry to hear that judy. I'd really be frustrated if it were me having these problems as well.
