What makes you get up and move when you really don't want to. Music does it for me ,I turn Elvis up loud and I ready to rock and roll.

My motivation to keep going with this depends on the day. One day it's so I don't have complications, the next it could be something else or someone in particular that needs help. I don't think I have one specific motivation, I have 100's. Although my basic motivation is that I have too much left to do in this life and too many people to meet yet so I need to be healthy!! I want to feel good so that my sense of humor stays with me until the end. And the end will be due to old age not a disease or complication!!

What motivates me to get out of bed is my 5 month old puppy. He does not sleep late. the minute he sees light he wants to get up. So out we go. Also my daughter. She is 23 and I want to be around for grandchildren. When ever that comes. LOL. And my hubby. He and I do not see each other alot. He works nights and sleeps days so weekends are our time. But he always wants to go out to eat alot and I have to be picky where I go. But he is learning where I can go and will suggest that first. We went to Red Robin the other day and I had the best salad with Apples, walnuts and goat cheese. It was great and I brought 1/2 home for the next day.

What motivates me is my kids. I want to be around and healthly to see them get married and have kids. My mom died before I got married (to a great man not a deadbeat like the first time)and had my youngest child. I don't want to do that to my girls.

I'd have to agree on the music getting me motivated. I've been a lifetime fan of the classic rock band Boston, and "Don't Look Back" does it every time for me. I hear the get up and go in that song, and it always makes me smile and feel better. I get the same charge from certain gospel songs as well. Also what motivates me, is my inner voice, that helps me know I'm ok, and everything will work out like it should. And ya know what? It usually does. Sometimes I'm motivated by a sunny day. Kind words from family or a friend motivates me too.

What motivates me the most is conquering this diease. I have been through it all. Highs, lows, infections, amputation, dialysis and a transplant. I'm still here. I'm not going to let myself die from complications of diabetes. I hope I die of old age…I want to be around to see a cure for diabetes…Thats my motivation…Debe

What motivates me is the old adage: Living long is the best revenge (LOL).
Actually I do it for my family and friends. I never want them to have to watch me decline in health with diabetes related complications.
Plus a lot of people have told me I have become sort of a role model for them. I can't let them down.

This is going to sound stupid, but it is this site. I know I am going to share my day with you all, and I want it to be a good example. Sometimes I don't do so hot, but I really do try to make sure I am doing what I need to do to get my numbers down, and this site is my carrot on a stick.

Gabby,

I know for myself, you have been a true inspiration…you were one of the first people I talked to on this site, and it's wonderful to see you grow with knowledge that you love to pass on to us newbies…I for one am glad you get out of bed for us…

You are too kind. It is so much of each of you who inspire me. Funny, how much we become family without ever seeing each other. Human nature is an incredible thing when it shows it's caring side.

Yes,

And the best part is, if we are having a bad day and dont want to talk to anyone, then we just dont get on here…when its family…they seem to bug you no matter what…LOL

I know it's a cliche, but my daughter is my biggest motivation…who knows if it wasn't for her, I might stay in bed all day and then never exercise…but it's hard to ignore the insistance of a 3 year old that always says come play with me mommy…also it is hilarious to watch her try to do my tae bo with me…LOL
