Here are two URLS I found today…
The first one is about Metformin and Vitamin B deficencies…The second is about hearing loss.

In my diabetes education class we were told that prolonged use of metformin could cause B deficiencies. What she recommended was taking either a B complex or a sub lingual B12 supplement. I asked my doctor to test my B levels after learning this, and he said he only did that for his older patients who don't get good nutrition. I was disappointed, but since B is one you cannot overdose on or cause harm, I take the liquid B12 once a day.

When I was on met before, I ended up on B12 monthly injections. Saw Endo Friday and she said if Bydureon doesn't bring levels down to normal she will add met. I went ahead and told her about last time and she said we would add that at same time, but I told her I wanted to try the yearly injections (she said she had never done those so I told her to please check it out and which Endo journal the article was in)

Temi…Thanks for the links. I did know about Met/Vit B but although I have wondered about diabetes and hearing loss I never took the time to look it up. I suspect I may have a bit of hearing loss. Others have complained that I have the tv on "blasting"!

Interesting, Temi. I find B vitamins have helped me get my "lazy hair follicles" growing hair again.

Really? Maybe I need to shampoo with it? LOL

o, it's in capsule form. I take a combination of B1—Benfotiamine, B6, B12 to aid in increased circulation to the entire body/skin, which includes hair follicles.

I've also recently started using a diluted vinegar solution to clean the scalp and hair shaft of chemicals accummulated there, then following up with a mixture of jojoba, kukui, lavendar, tea tree, e, sesame, and avocado oils that I leave on for an hour or two before I shampoo. Have new little hairs starting all over my head.

Wow, can you email me your recipe? I sue could use some little hairs growing, as long as they don't grow on my chin or in my ears! LOL

No, it's just on my head … the chin hairs are a danger from dribbled Rogaine, though. Sure, I'll email you.

Very good info and important for those who take met to be aware of. I took an article concerning met and b deficiencies to my doctor few months ago, and he put me on b complex. He actually called me and thanked me for the info.
