I came upon this blog in an email about enhancing the flavor of foods. This is not geared to Persons with Diabetes (PWDs) specifically, but there are some applicable suggestions here ~

What do you do to enhance the flavor of your foods in a diabetes friendly way?

I posted this below but wanted to move it up here, as to not get lost in the confusion of original post.

I use fresh onions and garlic a lot. I like to use curry powder & red pepper flakes in sauces and chilies. Fresh ginger is a new favorite, tastes way better than ground. I substitute pomegranite juice for red wine but still looking for a good sub for white wine. I use scallions on occasion. And, I want to get away from using too many dried herbs and move to fresh, but have yet to do it.

I can't wait to plant my herbs! I usually do rosemary, sweet basil, thyme, dill weed and oregano. I love using them all summer long, it makes a big difference when you spice up your cooking! Keeps me on track!

How long do fresh herbs keep and where do you store yours? I've read conflicting opinions. One article says they should kept in the fridge, another says they can be frozen, and yet another says in a airtight container (glass) outside the fridge.

I'm addicted to Mrs Dash salt free seasonings. I gave up salt 6 years ago, and it is 1 of the seasonings that I use. I use a lot of black pepper, and a whole lot of fresh chilli peppers. (Thai chilli peppers, Anaheim chilli peppers ghost peppers, etc.) So as far as I'm concerned, the spicier the better!! (When my nose starts to run, my eyes begin 2 water, and my tongue is on fire, then I know that it hot enough!! That's how I've been seasoning my food for a very long time!!

These are all good flavor enhancing choices; I've used them all. I also now use cinnamon, cardimom, coriander, and have used Herbs de Province for years as well as the full range of Italian and French herbs. Does wonders for a simple very BG conscious meal.

Couldn't get the link to work. Kept sending me to an error page.

When I tried it (from my original post) I got it with no problem. Here's the link again ~ Perhaps the server the blog was on was down for a while. Try it again, please.

Sorry for the confusion James. I was actually talking about the link for the 12 Low Carb Fiber Foods. Don't know how this ended up here. I guess I had too many tabs open earlier.

I will have to go there and check that link out now too!

EDIT: just did and the link in the original post seems to be working fine.

Thanks for the link, Gambling. Turns out I already have this bookmarked on my computer. Go figure.
