I was told in my diabetic classes that I should be eating between 45-60 carbs per meal. They told us that if we count the carbs that will take into account the amount of sugar we consume, so counting the carbs was the most important. 45 grams of carbs is 3 carb servings per meal. They told us that men are allowed to consume more carbs than women. I don't remember the amount that they told them, but I think it was maybe one or two more servings than women. I hope this helps. I found the classes very informative.

I believe that every carb you have will raise your blood sugar by 3 points. Thats one way I determine what I'm going to eat. I try not to eat anything that has more than 20 carbs in it. Doesn't always work though. Now what works for me may not work for you. Some may be able to eat more carbs others less. You kinda have to play around with it and see what works best for you. After awhile you will know what you can and how much of it you can eat.

Everyone is different. I look for things that are 15 carbs or less. But being diabetic is all trial and error to find what works the best for you. But I do between 30-45 per meal. But lately I am having to force myself to eat any. I just want veggies and protein. Mainly just veggies. But going without carbs is bad too.
