OK, on your profile you said that your stress and anxiety levels are very high. You are being treated for anxiety. You got upset with your sisters today and have been snacking ever since.

First, I can identify. I have good control most days, but I also have emotional days like this when control is out the window.

This is called emotional eating, but I find that it becomes something else because of the way emotional eating tends to be all about carbohydrates and sugars and sends our BGs over the moon.

So, check you BG. What is it? If it is under 300, I would drink a big glass of iced water with lemon juice in it and then go for a 30 minute walk. Try to focus on good/happy thoughts during your walk. Refuse to let the negatives in. How many good things can you think of while walking? Have another big glass of lemon water when you come back. Take your BGs again. They should have gone down and, as they go down, you will feel less compulsion to eat the "bad" things.

Then I'd try a hot oil bath with a scent that you like and soothing music that you can hear in the bathroom. See how you are doing by now. If you still want to eat, go fix yourself a piece of lean meat and have it with a small salad with vinegar on it as your dressing. After that, I'd grab a good book and go read until I fell asleep.

You can't stop a behavior unless you start a new behavior. You want to stop eating, so DO something else. Generally, it doesn't matter what so long as it isn't near the refrigerator, but in this case I'm assuming since it's been going on all day that part of the issue is that your BG is up. That's one of the reasons for the exercise. Exercise also helps with anxiety and depression. Exercise like walking takes you away from your supply of high carb/sugar snacks also.

Let me know how any of this works for you, if you try it. It works for me; hope it does for you.

Could you tell us a little more about how this affects you? Are you talking about non-stop snacking, large meals, eating the wrong foods for BG control. Do you have stomach or intestinal distress? Do you feel hungry or are you just eating? How is your stress level? Help us help you.
