I can't believe how much adverticement is out there telling people how to get rid of your diabetes!( on youtube mostly) Raw food diet, juicing, natural food diet, vegan diets, CLAIMING that those diets can CURE diabetes!! I know healthy eating can CONTROL your diabetes muchmuch better but please, dont claim that it will totally get rid of diabetes! SMH!

it reminds me of a drawing which was circluating via email a few years back. It was a frog about to be eaten by a stork-like bird. The frog had its front flippers wrapped around the bird's neck squeezing and the caption: "Never, EVER, give up!

whether or not there is one soon the main thing is to take the best care of one's self as possible till there truly is one. If you die for one, you won't get the cure here in this life. LoL!

eventually a cure is likely
a remission i think i could do that it would require triggering a metabolic reset which could be done if i had a spare 10 hous a day working out and meditating maybe after i retire in a few decades. guess i'll hope for a cure

I have heard from many folks who have retired that unfortunately their lives get fuller and move faster than before. Kinda like a toilet paper roll as it nears the end of the paper.

I have reached a point where my sugar never goes above 120 and my A1c is in the 5 to 6 range. I know I am not cured, even though I no longer take medication. But what does it matter? What I have to do to keep diabetes at bay helps me in so many other ways. I should have been living like this all my life.

I have a mixed response to all of this. I'm delighted that there is so much effort going into attempting to improve the lifestyle. I'm annoyed by all the advertising, but that's life in the USA. I'm concerned about the level of both naivete that says "This is the solution" and of cynicism that says "Won't even consider it." Can't we keep an open mind and explore our options?

When I was diagnosed 10 years ago the accepted wisdom was that you could never be cured. Now I've even heard some doctors saying that a cure is possible or use the words "reversed" or "dissolved". Frankly, don't know what to believe.

Personally, I'll skip the battle of the semantics and be happy that my diabetes is in my control and I'm feeling great without any medication. Am I cured? Don't know, don't really care, it's just a word. What I know is I have a system of care in place that works to keep me healthy and that's what I want for me.

I don't believe there will be a cure for diabetes for a long time. Not to sound negative, but, it's just what I believe. I do strongly believe it can go into a "state" of non diabetic numbers for awhile. Since my numbers are so changeable, I personally have never, in all my years as a diabetic had non diabetic patterns. ANNE

we can absolutely control it with proper diet, its a proven facts for lots of people… i just really hate misleading info…

I agree completely. One time when I was in the emergency room, one of the people that drew my blood said " I see you have an A1c of 5.9..that means you are not diabetic anymore." Ha, ha, ha. I honestly don't think he knew any better..he was a heck of a nice man, but, his knowledge seemed limited. I smiled and said " That'd be great, but you haven't seen my highs and lows." He said " Oh, but you are not diabetic with that A1c." I said nothing back..I knew the E.R physician knew of all my numbers , etc. A cure? I believe the cure will be in about 70-75 years…I think the only cure right now is to have a brand new pancreas put into one's body, and boy, that's expensive..ANNE

I know! I get lots of stuff in the mail advertising books and diet plans to get rid of diabetes. It goes straight in the recycle.
