There seems to be a lot of new sweeteners on the market, does anyone have any favorites? What characteristics do you look for in sweeteners?

I use Stevia ( usually the store brand version) or Stevia ( or a store brand version) depending on what I'm using it for. Sometimes Stevia has a slightly citrus or mint taste hat can either inhance or fight the flavor of what it is mixed into.

I noticed there aren't many people on here using splenda. makes me wonder if this sweetener is not as good for me as others. I love splenda! it sweetens like sugar to me. I've tried truvia and I liked it but splenda seems to be sweeter.

to each his own. I avoid splenda since if I have two soda cans worth of this sweetener I get the trots! (aka the "hershey squirts")! Not fun!

lol! that hasn't happen to me yet. which I don't use it a whole lot. just my coffee in the morning for the most part. I've sweetened my oatmeal with it also but I don't do oatmeal every day so it probably doesn't effect me.

Well we all metabolize the same substances differently, so you may never have proglems with splenda.

But I don't use any sweeteners artificial or "natural" as I have noted that I am ravenously hungry after i eat or drink a non-nutritive sweetener. Seems the sweet taste triggers a satiety center and if there is not a corresponding rise in my Blood Glucose (BG) levels I seek to raise my BG levels through eating carb laden foods. So I avoid sweeteners ike that. A couple of years ago I bought about 20 lbs of a sweetener called "WheyLow", a combination of lactulose and fructose for my now late bride. So if I really need to sweeten something I try to use that!

It's difficult to get info on sweetners that hasn't been corrupted by big business ventures and interests.
I'm also a Stevia user. It's been used by humans for hundreds of years !

i don't use any sweeteners. I had bought some Whey low when my wife was alive I have about 20 lbs of the stuff. It is a combination of Lactose and Fructose. So if I want to sweeten something I tend to use that, but that much Whey low will probably last me the rest of my life.

I notice from your profile you have posted a link to a sweetener you have developed.

I use Equal, I have tried natural sweeteners like Stevia all of them made me sick to my stomach so I stopped using them. I got the same results with Sweet and Low did the same thing

I find it best for me not to use any sweeteners, artifitial or otherwise. I've gotten used to not having them and, for the most part, I no longer miss them. The only exception I make is an occasional Diet Coke when I work an overnight shift.
