A friend of mine, Carol, is doing a survey of T2s on medication for her PhD. This is her what she sent me. If you wish to participate, just follow the directions.
Are you, or do you know someone who is over 18 years old, has type 2 diabetes and takes medication to treat their diabetes (it does not matter what kind). I am conducting a study for my schooling and need more participants.

The study has been reviewed by a board of ethics at AT Still University. It was granted an exemption because it is anonymous.

There are no monetary payments or gifts associated with the study. Your results are entirely anonymous and will remain confidential. The entire survey will take less than 10 minutes of your time and it is a one time survey.

Here's the link.

Questions? Please respond to this email address: diabetes_survey@hotmail.com small
If you can help, it would mean a lot to her.

I haven't heard more recently from anyone on this survey. No "go ahead" from Admin. I won't click on the link until I hear from them.

What's the big deal. it just some simple questions.

I feel that this way we are better protected from those who would take advantage of us, and protect our computers from any possible viruses and or address harvesting programs.

And others who have taken the survey have pointed out that the questions were rather simplistic for a PhD candidate. It just adds up wrongly for me. So I won't "bite" the bait.

draco59 2012-03-12 15:42:53 -0500 Report

OK, no problems, I've taken hundreds of surveys and go paid, and the where for PhD candidates, that were simpler than this………………….

jayabee52 2012-03-12 15:54:00 -0500 Report

as it turns out, I was screened out from participating in the full survey (after getting the OK from Admin). I'm not taking any meds. They wanted med takers.

I would fix all the mistakes in the survey. If she is going for a phd she should have better questions I would think

jayabee52 2012-03-09 20:03:46 -0600 Report

We don't know that it is actually what it is said it is Gambling! One would think a PhD candidate would have their "ducks in a row"

That is why I wait till the person and survey is vetted by Alliance and given the OK by the Administrators before I take the survey.

Who knows what could be lurking in the background of a survey such as this one?

Gambling 2012-03-09 20:06:27 -0600 Report

I agree and I had to shake my head at some of the questions . just pointing that out

jayabee52 2012-03-09 20:15:41 -0600 Report

I pray you are right.

I have not known about the stealthy downloads placed on my machine until much later and the download turned my computer into a "spam robot".

I am a big boy also a webmaster and a decent computer guy !My computers are protected from all that

jayabee52 2012-03-09 20:33:08 -0600 Report

I am not so decent a computer guy, so I must be careful. I do OK for what I do but when getting deeper than I can handle I am doubly cautious. Hate trying to get into the deeper workings of my computer.

Please go down to the bottom of this page and find a "feedback" link and ask for "J Kate" or "John Criowley" to check out this survey and to come to this page and give us the OK to do this survey. It MAY or MAY NOT be in vioation of the Terms of Use (link also at bottom of page) It would be up to the Administration to vet this request and determine whether it should be allowed to remain here. Most of us here trust the Administration here and many of us do not participate in surveys such as this without the OK from Admin.

Plus, I would not reply to the email you posted above since then the promised annonynity is breached.

I, myself, have a concern that your friend Carol did not come here and make the request herself. Better yet, please have Carol pitch the idea to the DiabeticConnect Administration HERSELF!

I pray that we'll get the green light from the Administration in short order, so we could participate. We are a friendly bunch, but are a little shy when it comes to our privacy.

If this hasn't been cleared with Alliance, then you are in violation of the Terms of Use for this site. Please speak with one of the site advocates (you can find them on the Home page) and then go to Feedback at the bottom of the page and ask that this be removed until you are properly authorized to post it. Otherwise this discussion will be flagged and reported for this violation.

If this has been cleared, then you should ask one of the Advocates to post here to say as much, so that we know this is a legitimate request.

Thank you for your feedback. I wasn't aware that it needed to be vetted, so your instructions on how to do that are very helpful! I will do that right now! :-)

jayabee52 2012-03-09 20:12:46 -0600 Report

please have carol herself contact alliance. That way you're not caught in the middle between Alliance and Carol! Sometimes caught in the middle is not a comfortable place to be.
