I am 43 yrs old and Type 2. Currently taking 1000mg of metformin and 20mg of glyburide a day. Doctor put me on 15mg of Actos in Dec. Has helped my numbers but I know it can contibute to congestive heart failure( which my mother and grandmother both died of). Have noticed some swelling in my fet and legs but nothing dramatic. Was wondering if anyone else has taken this and what they thought.

I'm on 15mg twice per day and Janumet 50/500 mg and I have swollen feet, but I also have a problem with the valves in some of the veins in my legs, cardiologist did an ultra sound last month, put me on compression hose. They seem to be working well. I was being treated by a GP, I see an Endocrinologist later this month, so we’ll see what he says then. Will keep you posted

I had swollen feet when I was taking it also. One of the reasons I quit.

I too the low dose, 15 mg, for about a year, then started decreasing it slowly on my own over the next year or so. I probably took a split pill (7.5 mg) for a couple more years after that. As soon as I stopped the swelling went away.

I was on it for a short time. It did an excellent job in helping to control my bg. My endo did warn me that there might be some swelling in the lower legs and feet. I did not experience any swelling. I was taken off Actos because of the bladder cancer warnings that hit the news media.

Yes I read those too on Google. My doc doesnt think that the risk is high enough for me but I told her I just really wasnt comfmortable with the bladder cancer warnings and the congestive heart failure increase risk with my family history. Thanks for the feedback!:)

Interesting, I spoke on the phone with my endo's nurse. She informed me that he was still prescribing Actos. Then she said BUT it's not his body and the end result, they took me off Actos and adjusted my Metformin dosage.
