Went for three month checkup. Good that my A1C was the same as last time, 7.4. I was supprized for this includes Christmas, son's wedding, and about four birthdays. Still have work to do on this. But Doc added a new drug, Victoza to see how I will do. I'm finding that the same meal six months ago had humalog of say 34 units, now the same meal and portion is 45-50 units. Three small pancakes of quinoa flour with peanut-butter and 6g. jam is usually 80-100 units of humalog. And to top it all off - my sciattica is back! Exercise, forget it!!! So hope that Victoza works to cut the weight. Also will insurance pay for the new drug when the samples run out?

Today is five weeks without diet soda! This is a big deal for me. When my box of Crystal Light is empty, I'm stopping that too.

Howdy Armorer, re: your question about Vicitoza being paid for by insurance when samples run out, is best addressed by your ins. co. Insurers have so many different rules and differing provisions folks here couldn't give a good answer to that.

Thanks, but I wasn't asking a question just thinking out loud. After posting I called my insurance and they said if my condition warranted it they would approve it, but. . .my condition as best he could tell didn't justify it, and when sample runs out, to have doc call them and they would talk about it. Great!

But having done the injection the first day, feel fine and felt no need for diner or a bedtime snack. See if my BG is lowered and I loose weight.

I pray it works well for you and the ins. co. decides it will cover the cost. You do, of course keep good records on how it affects you?
