I did low carb diet years ago and lost over 60 pounds. I was never a coffee drinker till then. I had a craving one night and made a pot of coffee instead of indulging in a sweet tooth fit. The coffee did the trick. As a newly diagnosed type 2, I'm back on the coffee. I use a little splenda with nothing else and helps me through. I'm on a 6 to 7 meal plan per day and have a harder time at home trying not to constantly snack. Again, the coffee pulls me through.

I've just done some reading that caffeine may actually raise blood sugar levels, so make it a decaf for me

it depends, Joe on how your metabolism reacts to coffee in general. Test your blood about 2 hrs after consuming coffee. then you have a better idea of what it does to your unique metabolism.

Diagnosed three weeks ago. 5mg Glyburide, soon to be off. My fasting avg bg already down from 380 to 115 to 125. I grabbed bull by the horns, joined gym, personal trainer, low carb diet etc… Too soon I guess for another ac1 test. I was at 10.7 at docs office.

I think this is great.
I think its warm fluids that help stave off over eating
I have some cream or almond milk in my coffee with Truvia
and it helps me too.

When were you diagnosed?
I am just at my One Year Mark.
What Meds are you taking?
